How many women here watch porn with their husband or boyfriend? I enjoy porn but when I watch it with my girlfriend, I get so much more aroused!

I do. Sometimes I'll catch something left open on his computer and offer to watch it with him, sometimes I show him what I've been watching.

This interests me - there is a theory that women tend to prefer their porn to be more intellectual - less visual stimulation and more emotional and engaging - ie written erotica etc

It may just be that women are pickier and using their imaginations with written erotica doesn't hit any of the "turn-offs." Boyfriend has accused me of "ruining" pron for him when I described everything in porn that I dislike, because he never noticed the things I described until I pointed it out.

If one aspect is especially good, I can overlook some of the other ones, so this is just a general guideline:

Pet Peeves:
1. If the camera-work and "sexyface" acting make me feel like I'm a third person in a room with two people fucking. Example, they're doing it doggy style and the camera is facing her. Instead of looking at the man with his penis in her and looking sexy at him, she looks straight in front of her, into the camera, and she makes "sexyface" that seems to be completely unrelated to the actions of the man with his penis in her. It breaks through the "fourth wall" and instead of allowing me to imagine I'm the woman in the scenario, makes me feel like I'm in front of her watching her having sex while she seems to be unaware of what he's doing with his penis. I don't want to imagine I'm a third person in the room. I want to imagine I'm getting rammed by a hot stud.
2. If the guy isn't a hot stud. Oh so many pornos with this issue. Men with tits. Men with beer bellies. Men with questionable hair. I've dated my share of men who are less than physically perfect, but I don't want to watch them in a porno.
3. Fake orgasms. Fake screaming. Fake dirty talking. Non-stop nonsensical fake sounding noises. Faking in general. If you can't act well enough to sell it, don't fake it.
4. Boredom. Maybe this is why they try faking it.
5. Not enjoying it. I can tell if she doesn't like his hands or his cock or his technique and it's a turn-off. There are a few pornos where I can tell that he's good at fucking, his got great hands, and I want to have sex with him. Turn-on!

Turn-ons:
1. Real enthusiasm
2. Real orgasms
3. No acting
4. Muscular/fit/young/hot actors

I have a similar issue with 'sexyface' and bad acting - but I tend to deal with it in a different way. I have become a fan of extreme closeups in everyday porn, since then I don't have to think about bad boob jobs or ridiculous tattoos (I have several tattoos and don't typically mind them, but some porn actor's tattoos are truly terrible.)

I'm also a big fan of kink.com's offerings - hot girls who usually don't have boob jobs, real orgasms, and the offerings are a bit racier than the typical porn company's.

I have to agree that most porn is just silly. So I remedied the problem for myself... I only watch gay porn.
All that dick takes care of the lack of realistic story line.

Yeah I have to agree with you on the Sexy Face thing - I'm a man and I don't like it all. The best porn for me is when it looks like the woman is really enjoying. I can also see your point of view on the man - lots of guys in porn get by simply by having a large penis and the ability to perform sex on demand (apparently this is actually extremely hard to do and I can sort of see why if you ever see porn outtakes and see how little the performers generally enjoy themselves). I'm not generally that interested in the man though...

There is another school of thought that says that women also take a lot from visual stimuli but that as you said due to the fact that the industry is driven by male dollars not much of the porn is made with a view to female opinions.

Overall, I've gone right off professional porn - only genuine amateur stuff has any real appeal because I know all the people there are doing it because they want to.

Women objectify just as much as men, but as Dan Savage pointed out, straight guys have a tendency to believe that women aren't "visual creatures" and they tend to "let themselves go" more than straight women or gay men. I don't understand, are you saying that hot guys can't just enthusiastically have sex and real orgasms in porn and that it's an unrealistic expectation? I never cared for porn, but when Cap and I were dating we rented a tape "just to see."
