The writer used outdated data for his story... Corrected Census Bureau projections released less than 2 weeks ago have ethnic 'minorities' outnumbering Caucasians by around 2035 now, not 2050. The same projections also show there is almost no chance that whites won't be outnumbered by 2042, no matter what happens with immigration policy and such.

This is why I laugh and laugh HARD at the racist, xenophobic, lily white Republican Party... They are literally driving themselves into extinction by vilifying any and all groups who are not 'pure' enough to be considered 'true' conservatives.

You forgot homophobic too but I guess a whole lot can fall under xenophobic umbrella ehh ehh.

Hmmmm. . . sort of related. I'm sitting here in a hotel room in Mexico City where I'm attending a conference/seminar thing and thinking back when I was in Junior High School. The Principal used to joke (his name was Lyle Tregaskis, and he's dead) that the students filling the Spanish classes were the ones too stupid to learn French. And he really believed it. It's good that Mr. Tregaskis, AKA "Trigger", is dead.

The Republican party has been demographically lily white, xenophobic, racist, and homophobic for decades.

Sure, there are exceptions, but his statement isn't grossly factually inaccurate.

I mean, Reagan was racist as fuck, and he is practically GOP jesus.

No thats not true. They are no more racist than those in the democratic party. The dems just had an easier time painting the GOP as racist because it is mostly white. But when you stop and think about it that in and of itself is prejudice - that whites are somehow more racist or that white republicans would be more racist than white dems. I just dont see that.

Republicans as a party are anti-immigration, which is an inherently racist argument, and homophobic.

Some conservative democrats may agree, but it's hardly the party platform.

I'm neither, by the way, so don't consider it cheerleading. The republicans have been using dog-whistle racism to rile up the whites for decades now.

That's such a case of willful ignorance. The south regularly voted democratic until the democrats voted pushed Civil Rights legislation. And the Republicans began pushing the concept of 'states rights' which is nothing but code language to the racists that you should be able to do what you want without the federal government intervention. Then the South magically began voting Republican ever since.
