You know....I didn't realize until many years later that while looking at Wild, Wild, West as a kid that it was because of the macho imagine and dressing sharp that attracted me so much to the show. HA! Well it was obviously so much more than that. James West was the male version of Mae West. He oozed with man-sex from the sharp dress, position of the hat, tight tapered suits and of course that bulge (both front and back). Man-o-man....and let's not get into that handsomely carved face and devilish eyes. He was a freak - and now we know!

A few years ago I was reading a book about the Wild Wild West series (sorry, I don't remember the title but it was "coffee table" size with a lot of photos) and it included an exchange someone had with the shows (male) costume designer who, in a fit of frustration finally said something like "Alright-yeah! We specifically tailored his pants to feature his ass! Are you happy now?!" Not an exact quote but it was clear he was tired of people asking! We'll probably never know if any part of those wild rumors are true about Conrad, but for such a notorious homophobe (and all around right wing asshole from what I've read) it showed an amazing amount of *ahem* far-sighted erotic body-part specific exibitionism sure to excite mostly male homosexuals on 'ol Bobs part to be considered merely sub-conscious don't ya think? He that doth protest too much wot wot?!? Not that some ladies didn't appreciate his super fine ass, but my mother and sister never watched WWW, while my dad and I did (for different reasons I'm sure...)

You're thinking of Lyle Waggoner from Carol Burnett. Robert Wagner was a dramatic actor in films. He was the star of "To Catch a Theif" on television.

Robert Wagner more recently 'Two and Half Men' or recently info commercials - actually prefer to think of him married to Natalie Woods the first time before her death in his much younger years.

Yes, I do remember the muscled hunk Lyle Waggoner on the Carol Burnett show and later especially in Playgirl.

I lived in Los Angeles at the time. There was current gossip about Robert Wagner, but I never heard anything about Robert Conrad other than, "I'd do him" or some such wishful thinking.

There are reruns of WWW on WE-TV. Comcast carries it. I'm not sure if it's just an East Coast thing (I know Comcast carries WE-TV in CT and MD). I've been DVR-ing the reruns...damn he's amazing! Now if they would carry Baa Baa Black Sheep (or Black Sheep Squadron as it was later named). He was smoking hot in that jump suit!

Robert Conrad in his heyday must have been a little bantam rooster, no doubt about that. A few years back I was over at the Planes of Fame aviation museum in Chino and spoke with a pilot who flew the Vought F4U Corsair warbirds during the 1970s filming of the Baa Baa Black Sheep TV series. Although Robert Conrad didn't know an aircraft P&W R-2800 radial engine from a Toro lawn mower 4-stroke, he strutted around the Santa Clarita movie set in with huge shoe lifts hidden in his flying boots, acting every bit the Hollywood star he was at the time.

In 2003 Conrad was involved in a tragic car accident where he was badly injured and the other driver was killed. His alcohol level was .22. In the aftermath it was revealed that his actual birth date was March 1, 1929 and not 1935. His actual height is between 5' 5" and 5' 6" minus the shoe lifts.
