Some of you will know the porn actor Mandingo. He is famous for his penis size and I think he has biggest dick I have ever seen. (FYI: i am straight) When you people guess how long he might be, they come up with around the famous 12". My estimation based on some facts is much lower with 8.5".

i estimate sizes by comparing it with other body features, which length you can guess better. i did this because i stumbeld across a video of mandingo where he in the middle of the blowjob strokes his cock and already has a pretty maximum sized erection.

In the attatched picture i have made a screenshot of what i mean. now its time to compare. his fingers are near to the penis and are roughly the same distance from the camera, so we can compare the breadth of his fingertips (palm) there, with the length of his penis.
when i blow the picture up all the way his fingers are 4.5cm (yes, i am european) and his cock has a length of around 13cm. now i take my hand and try to make similar grip around an objekt and measure the distance my finger touch it. i can come up with 7-7.5cm.
this means his cocklength is 7*13/4.5 to 7.5*13/4.5 cm. when i calculate this its 20.3cm(very close to 8inches) to 21.7cm (8.5 inches). you can very well test this your own, by measureing the noted features in the picture and your hand breadth and putting it into the forumla.

i think my hand measurement is pretty close to his, as our body types are pretty similar and he is roughly my size i would guess, compared to the girls (which thend to be tiny).
for all of you who are curious i have 17cm / 6.7 inches NBP (18 if bone pressed, not really much of a fatpad) and with my body size it can look pretty big from the right angle. (i can post examples if you want).

i hope with this realistic guess of the length of the all too famous mandingo, i have put your own (honest!) measurement in some meaning full context.i think, that in real life measurements huge (mandingo) means 8-8.5 inches and above average (my length) 6.5-7 inches. i also believe this study, which was done by pro familia in germany. there the mean penis length (measured by medical personel) was 14.5cm / 5.7 inches. even the longest they found was "only" 19cm / 7.5 inches among more than 100 men.

A point, which was argued by a guy some time ago in this forum, was that the high number of claims of 10-12" penises is unrealistic. The whole thing was a bit to statistical for most of us and also the statistical aproach was IMO not the right way. There are way to few large scaled studies done to estimate the extreme end. The point which was the main reason for this people to believe the claims of 12" were their personal expirience. My sexlife so far was more or less only straight so i cannot come up with "first hand expirience". But i have watched a lot of porn in my life and what i saw there doesnt match with number of extremes (and also the length differnce to my cock ) mentioned in this forum.

I don't know about comparison with other body parts and what-have-you, but i'd estimate about 9" from that photo (although it does appear that he's yanking it outwards a little, so maybe you're closer with 8 1/2)

Let's face it - these guys are measured, and promoted, in porn inches. Which means that size typically gets inflated by 25-33 percent.

Personally, I reckon the problem dates back to the 70s, before video, when a tight close up of a male star could put an image maybe 15-25ft on a cinema screen - which made it easy to impress. Even today you'll see claims that the big star of the day, John Holmes, was 12 or 14 inches. Actually, taking his known height, it's possible to estimate his true size at somewhere between 8 1/2 and 10 inches. To back that up, Rolling Stone magazine once reported that Holmes's first wife said that early in her marriage she'd come home to find him measuring himself. To her, he claimed to be 10 inches.

IMO the biggest guys in the porn business today are 9-11 inches. Lexington Steele claims to be 11 inches and he probably is. Mandingo (in most of his pictures - not the ones posted on this thread) looks to be about the same length but has quite a bit more girth - in volume terms he has L.S. beaten by some way.

Doubt I've ever seen a real 12 incher - if they exist they are incredibly rare.

What does this tell us? Only that the porn industry's got itself caught in a position where exagerration has become the norm. If the top stars are supposed to be 11, 12 inches or more (and you see Steele and Mandingo boosted as 13 or 14 inches pretty regularly), who's going to want to watch one who's 'only' 8?

'Course, it's not just the porn industry that does this. We all know that most men exaggerate size all the time - to girlfriends, in bed, when they're answering questionnaires, to themselves... hell, on this site. Surveys that allowed men to measure themselves consistently report bigger average and extreme sizes than those that don't - what a surprise. The biggest moderated survey I come across reported the smallest average size - 5 1/2 inches.

I only have my own experience to go on, but I'm "only" 8 1/4 inches (posted some pictures yesterday in the members gallery, so you don't need to take my word for it) and never had a girlfriend who's had bigger. And I've seen plenty of guys on the net who claim to be 9, 10 or 11 inches and are clearly quite a bit smaller than me.

Take all such claims with a large pinch of salt and you won't go too far wrong.

Pippi has an excellent point--one that's been expressed here on many occassions. For once, however (LOL), I actually believe that there is an underestimation at play here. I can tell from looking at the picture Pippi attached, that the penis shown is definately longer than 8.5" I know this for a few reasons.
