| | Jacknoir's...Film's You need to see before you die.
I've started this thread as I feel there are a lot of Films out there that are over-looked by the majority of Movie Fans. The Films I recommend will come from all genre's including Porn. I intend to contribute to this thread on a regular basis. The reviews will be in no particular order, and some will contain more detail than others. Rest assured I wont spoil the plot. As this thread is intended to expand. Please do not enter reply's here. If you'd like to comment, just send a reply direct to me Jacknoir.

"TOKYO SONATA" (Japan) subtitles.
I started with this Film as I saw it on "FilmFour" last night. "Tokyo Sonata" is a contempory Film about an ordinary Japanese family living in Tokyo. The Film shows how rapidly things can go wrong when a family member lose's their job and purpose in life. "Tokyo Sonata" gives a intimate cinematic tour of suburban Tokyo. You get to view ordinary city life in Japan, in a way few westerners are used to seeing.

"FIRE IN THE SKY" (U.S.) 1993
Director: Robert Lieberman
Stars: Robert Patrick
Based on Travis Walton's supposed true account of an 'Alien abduction'. This Film stands head and shoulders above most 'Alien' movies. It's very well acted, and the special effects look convincing. "Fire in the Sky" features Robert Patrick. Along with "Terminator 2" it's this Film that probably got him the role in the later series of "The X-Files". A quality Film from the U.S..

"A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH" (U.K.) 1946
Director: Micheal Powell, Emric Pressburger.
Stars: David Niven.
"A Matter of Life and Death" is a complex movie about the struggle for Life or Death. Set during the Second World War. David Niven stars as a Pilot of a stricken Bomber. He meets a woman who he falls in love with. And then has to battle for his Life. This Film is pure cinematic magic, the effects within this movie were cutting edge, and still look it. A classic.

"VAMPYRES" (U.K.) 1975
Director: Jose Ramon Larraz.
Stars: Marianne Morris, Anulka Dziubinska.
"Vampyres" is the most sexually charged, atmospheric Vampire Film made. 'Sexploitation' is the term Film Critics would use for this movie, and who cares!. This is the kind of Film "Hammer productions" should have made in the later years of the company's life. Set in and around an old manor house somewhere on the English/Scottish borders. There's lots of Flesh and lots of Blood. Enjoy!.

"ROMANZO CRIMINALE" (Italy) 2005
Director: Michele Placido.
Stars: Pierfrancesco Favino, Kim Rossi Stewart.
A slick crime thriller that tells the story of a teenage gang. Who quickly turn themselves into a successful crime syndicate. The film charts the gang's progress through three decades, (the subplot to "Romanzo Criminale" is more than a nod to "The X-Files"). The violence is restrained, the swearing is minimal and the nudity is almost non-existant.
Yet "Romanzo Criminale" is an excellent film. Love it!.

"THUNDERCRACK" (U.S.) 1975
Director: Curt McDowell.
Stars: Marion Eaton, George Kuchar.
Set in an Old Dark House, this Film is PURE EXPLOITATION!. But it's not a Porn Film, "Thundercrack' goes beyond that. Made on a 'homemade' budget. This is the Film that influenced John Waters career. A group of strangers accidentally meet-up and proceed to 'get it on'. There's humour, drama (to varying degrees of camp!), and lots of real sex!. For all it's cheapness, "Thundercrack" is the True Underground Leader of American Film-Making!. Best watched with the lights out!.

"DEATHLINE" (aka "Raw Meat" in U.S.) (U.K.) 1973
Director: Gary Sherman.
Stars: Donald Pleasence, Norman Rossington, Christopher Lee.
American Actor Alan Ladd's Sons were involved in making what is one of Cinema's greatest Horror Films. Set in 1970's central London. The story revolves around the mysterious dissappearence of people using the London Underground late at night. "Deathline" is quite possibly the reason John Carpenter gave Donald Pleasence his role in the "Halloween" Films.
I recently recommended this film to a younger work-mate. After he'd seen it, he said "They should make Horror Films like that Today, the Film felt 'Dirty' to watch". The soundtrack is cool too!.

"KONTROLL" (Hungary) 2003
Director: Nimrod Antal.
Stars: Sandar Csanyi, Eszter Balla.
"KONTROLL" is set on an imagined Budapest Underground system. The story center's on a gang of Ticket Inspector's. Who travel the network looking for 'freeloaders'. While the Film could have had a stronger ending. The black humour is truly universal. Watch out for the Football (Soccer) Fans!.

"FRENZY" (U.K.) 1972
Director: Alfred Hitchcock.
Stars: Jon Finch, Barry Foster.
Alfred Hitchcock is one of the greatest Film Makers ever. "Frenzy" is my favourite Hitchcock production. Set in 1970's London. The film tells the story of a Man who becomes suspected of being a serial rapist and murderer. Anyone new to "Frenzy" might be surprised that Alfred Hitchcock made a Film this explicit. It also documents Covent Garden as it used to be, a working market in the centre of London.

"WINGS OF DESIRE" (Germany) 1987.
Stars: Bruno Ganz, Solveig Dommartin, Otto Sander, Peter Falk.
Director: Wim Wenders.
"Wings of Desire" is about an Angel who through his work observing the 'living'. Becomes intrigued and infactuated with life on this mortal world. Set in Berlin before the fall of the wall. The film documents a city on the brink of change.
A lot of people would probably find "Wings of Desire" incredibly boring. I think this film is a work of art. There's even a great role played by an Actor, most people know.

"BESAT" (aka "Possessed") (Denmark) 1999.
Stars: Ole Lemmeke, Krsti Eline Tohaug, Udo Kier.
Director: Anders Ronnow Klarlund.
Like a lot of Movies and T.V. series of the 1990's. "Besat" is a Film that owes it's dues to "The X-Files". Set in Denmark and Romania. The Film tells the story of a human body found to be the carrier of an exetremely deadly disease. "Besat" is dark, atmospheric and even distressing in one section. The film also features a guest appearence from one of Europe's coolest actors.
