| | Fox owns the Republican Party
"Republicans originally thought that Fox worked for us – and now we're discovering we work for Fox."
The article below claims that Fox/Murdoch is deciding who will be the Republican nominee for 2012. Whoever is getting the most airtime on Fox = surge in opinion polls.
All you have to do is agree with Fox's wacky agenda and you get exposure, and this favours nut jobs. If Romney does win it will be a Foxified version. But the voting public is not convinced by all this nuttiness so Obama could be heading for a landslide victory in 2012.
"A series of surveys has proven that Fox viewers are woefully ignorant of current affairs, the latest study revealing that it is actually better to consume no news than to watch Fox: you end up better informed." How Fox News is helping Barack Obama's re-election bid | Jonathan Freedland | Comment is free | The Guardian
Fox News and what Sullivan calls the wider "Media Industrial Complex" have not only determined the style of the viable Republican presidential candidate, but the content too. If one is to flourish rather than wither in the Fox spotlight, there are several articles of faith to which one must subscribe – from refusing to believe in human-made climate change, and insisting that Christians are an embattled minority in the US, persecuted by a liberal, secular, bi-coastal elite, to believing that government regulation is always wrong, and that any attempt to tax the wealthiest people is immoral. Those who deviate are rapidly branded foreign, socialist or otherwise un-American.

Unfortunately, even if Fox leads the GOP into defeat in the next presidential election, it continues to lead a huge sector of the American public into darkness and delusion.

Nice to see all your facts and data comes from Dem. based sources.
Edit: I should add that polls at this point are meaningless. It is one choice on the Dem. side against multiple choices on the Rep. side. None of this will mean anything until it's head to head.

That's one of the Republicans' greatest fallacy, and cannot begin to explain the rise of Nixon, Ford, Reagan and both Bushes.
To the ETA: I agree, completely.

Even with 20 million (which I know they don't have) -- that leaves 180 million adults who say, "Fox who?"!! (assuming we've got about 100 million children in the country!)

Name one of the Republican Clowns you could vote for with a clear conscious. If they want to take the Whitehouse they need a candidate.

Fox is the top viewed network in the country. Bill O'Reilly, by him self, gets more viewers than all the idiots on MSNBC.
Why? Because people are sick of the liberal brainwashing you get when you watch CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC
It is always so pathetic to watch "open minded" liberals bash anyone who has a different opinion than theirs. If those who don't agree with you are truly wrong, as you believe, then let them show their ideas (instead of trying to censure the debate). How pathetic.

You think you can vote for fucking-dumbshit Obama with a clean concsious? He has cause more hate, strife, poverty, and division than any president I know of. Why? Because liberals lost their minds trying to beat G.W. Bush (which they never did).
This is so pathetic. The sooner liberals fess up to their closed mindedness, the sooner this country will get fixed.

Because people are sick of the liberal brainwashing you get when you watch CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC | I'd hardly call CNN, NBC, CBS, or ABC overtly "liberal" (or anything even close to "brainwashing" for that matter). Those are all pretty middle-of-the-road, politically speaking, and MSNBC does have a pretty obvious left-bias, roughly equivalent to the right-bias of FNC.
If you're going to champion the far-reaching hand of FNC, though, perhaps you should consider that its website wallows at an unimpressive 7th place, in terms of unique visitors per month, at ~32 million. Other news sources it places behind include CNN (74M), MSNBC (73M), The New York Times (59.5M), and the Huffington Post (54M). ( source)
Sure, they have an impressive TV reach ( ~2M people watch per day), but their overall media reach is not quite as overpowering as your post makes it sound.

Anyway, onto something a touch more substantive. Quote: |

| Two points:
1) All of them? Really? Even that wingbat Bachmann?
2) Just because you disagree with someone politically does not make them a "complete fucking retard". Obama appears to actually deliberate on things instead of just diving in headlong. Also, he's given a lot of ground to the Republicans on just about everything. The Republicans have pretty much given him no quarter on every goddamn thing he tries to do, with Mitch McConnell having stated that causing Obama's failure is his goal. Given the absurdly frothing opposition he has faced, I'm willing to cut him at least a little slack in some of his agenda shortcomings. Quote: |

| Wait, what? Obama's been pretty cool-headed in trying to advance his agenda. The Republicans just refuse to work with him at all and just threaten to filibuster anything, bringing just about everything to a grinding halt. Under GWB, Congressional Democrats generally at least cooperated to keep the government running without a constant looming threat of a shutdown or a default on our debt.
Also, I'd say that certain presidents have done worse than Obama. Obama was dealt a shitty hand, and it's hard to make lemonade from dogshit. I'm not thrilled with how he's done, but I'm also not boiling with rage. The same can't be said for presidents like Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan (both of whom failed to do anything to prevent the outbreak of the Civil War), Herbert Hoover (his handling of the outbreak of the Great Depression could have been better, to say the least), Warren Harding, and Calvin Coolidge (both of their economic policies helped to create the Great Depression). | What? I'm not sure what you're even trying to say here. Are you talking about the 2000 and 2004 Presidential elections? Quote: |

| Because dishing out a blanket epithet like "liberal" to discredit a group you disagree with is the hallmark of open-mindedness.
