I've always thought the re-enactments were interesting but it isn't something I personally would want to be a part of. I can't really ascertain why, I just know that live action role-playing has never been my thing. I'd watch it, though.

I'm not into re-enactments myself, but love documentaries about WW2.

I'm a Military channel nut and the History channel, both of them.

You never know where you will find friends. Just keep looking and looking.

Careful what you say it could be used against you.

I have a friend who's really into WWII vehicles and has a few jeeps and other interesting WWII-era military equipment and he goes a few times a year to reenactments and living history displays. In the past I have joined him on some of his adventures and he's suited me up with an authentic WWII uniform. I'm not so much into the battle reenactment stuff, but I do like the old vehicles and radios and things like that and have quite enjoyed sitting in an encampment display whilst the public wandered by, with the occasional question.

I forgot to mention that I'm big into WWII nose art... especially the bombers.

I've been involved with the SCA on and off (more off than on) since 2000. A few years ago I looked online at some other reenactment/recreation groups because I wanted to try a later period (was hoping for late 1700s, early 1800s), but there seems to be bugger all in my area. I feel your pain aquist.

Once got taken into a Civil War reenactment. It was fun but not something I want to do again.

This really isn't what I call living history. I am with the poster who said his father is living history, which is what I thought you were talking about.

What started it was the Civil War re-enactments which ocurred here. I would think it would be better to do it in Europe....but then again they are trying to forget it.

I love history. It was my minor, almost a double major in college. History --hud01 should not be forgotten. That's when it happens again, and again, and again. Still, remembering it doesn't always mean it won't happen again. WWI and WWII are prime examples.

There are reenactments in Europe as well.

I love to watch them, haven't been to one since Indiana and that was reenactment of the Battle for Tippecanoe. I thought it was the neatest thing as a kid. Probably where my love of history started. :)

aquist -- hope you find some nearby!

There is more to sex appeal than just measurements. I don't need a bedroom to prove my womanliness. I can convey just as much sex appeal, picking apples off a tree or standing in the rain.
