String Bikinis / Sport Briefs

Why are string bikinis so hard to find ?

While Jockey still makes its "Elance" string bikini, they are no longer sold in Canada. When they were my prefered underwear, the white ones in my size were always sold out, the others stayed on shelves. They apparantly complained they were not selling well. Why didn't they stock more of the popular colours and sizes ?

Calvin Klein used to have a few models evolving from cotton to better fablics. Their last ones were grest, in the "Tech Active" fabric. It has been a number of years since they last made them.

JM, a local firm in Montreal has never made them. Yet, they make thongs. In fact, Calvin also makes thongs.

So what is it about string bikinis (otherwise called sport briefs) that makes manufacturer refuse to make them even though they continue to make thongs which I would assume sell even less ?

Seems to me that string bikinis are far less "gay" than thongs.

I guess you're going to have to make a trip south and stock up on them at Wal-Mart. That's where I buy mine. Have you tried online? Maybe you can get them that way.

"sport briefs are my favorite style underwear and I have the same problem. I have noticed they are very regional and sporatic where they are found. Here in my hometown, I can't find them anywhere, at either high end stores, nor at discount stores like Wal-Mart or Target. (then again, it took this area a long time to get skinny jeans in stores too) I frequently do work in Washington DC, and I noticed the Macy's up there have them frequently. I found the 2xist Sliq sport briefs one of my favorites, and have bought several pair from the Macy's at Pentagon shopping mall. I was in Charlottesville VA a few days ago and stopped at a K-mart, so I decided to check out the underwear there. Surprisingly, they had a nice variety of "Joe Boxer" bikinis and sport briefs. The K-mart here has a very limited selection of underwear and the briefs are limited to the "tighty whitie" styles in various colors.

One thing that is becoming hard to find is briefs without the large, wide waistbands too. Being slightly autistic, clothing tends to irritate my skin. As a kid, I wore Jockey Elance briefs all the time because they have a thin waistband the wouldn't irritate my skin (The wasitband on Elance briefs is similar in size to the leg waistbands).

I am not sure why this is. I guess there are regional preferences, and the stores simply stock what sells in one place and not in others. It's kind of annoying that my hometown doesn't know what good underwear is.

What does being slightly autistic have to do with clothing? I'm serious - my brother claims I have Asperger's.

Jockey has it string bikinis on the USA web site, but it recently started its canadian sales on the web and their web site has none of them. Stupid that their web site would not carry all their models.

As a result of Jockey refusing to distribute their string bikinis years ago in Canada, I have not bought anything jockey since.

And Calvin also stopped making string bikinis. And when they did, the models never lasted long.

So, I go to freshpair and international jock and both have stopped carrying 2xist Sliq string bikinis.

It's like the minute I am pointed to a line of string bikinis still available, they discontinue it :-(

Jockey as a Sport Mesh string bikini in the USA now. But not available in Canada.

Autism brings with it extra sensory issues. My hearing is very strong (I can hear many high frequencies others cannot and some sounds make me go crazy) , and am sensitive to bright light, glare, and flashing/flickering light. When it comes to the sense of touch, I cannot stand many fabrics against my skin that are scratchy or abrasive. Tags are the worst! The wide elastic in most men's underwear irritate my skin and can be just plain uncomfortable having something so tight pulling on my skin. I am rather particular about the fabrics in my underwear too. It's one of the reasons why I have stayed away from boxer-briefs. They are big and bulky and trap a lot of sweat. Looser boxers in general work better for me, but I've figured that they are the same as just going commando really.

Surprisingly, the newer styles (in outer clothing) that are a little bit tighter and closer fitting are actually more comfortable for me (like athletic fit T's and slim fit jeans) Since they do fit a little closer, there's less rubbing and abrasion on my skin as I move around throughout the day. I'm rather active in my job and my hobbies, so this is important to me!

Try women's Jockeys. They look very similar and come in more colors and fabrics. The right size will fit and look like men's underwear. Seriously!
