won't eat "in public"

A calorie counter like myfitnesspal will. Most people snack on simple carbs. Very few choose low-carb high protein snacks like beef jerky. Baked potatoes are great complex carbs with low fat. Whole grains. Oatmeal. Hard

A calorie counter like myfitnesspal will. Most people snack on simple carbs. Very few choose low-carb high protein snacks like beef jerky. Baked potatoes are great complex carbs with low fat. Whole grains. Oatmeal. Hard liquor instead of beer or wine. Cut up cucumbers in vinegar and water for a summer snack instead of pretzels or chips. Coffee with milk instead of lattes. Diet Coke Lime with whole milk instead of sugary drinks.

It's the little things that add up through the day and over the months and years. Most people gain 2-5 lbs per year and all of a sudden, 10 years later, they're 20-50 lbs heavier and their metabolism has slowed as they've aged and gotten busy living.

Gaining one pound takes 3500 extra calories above what you burn. An extra 100 cal per day over 35 days is a pound. 100 x 35 x 10 = 35000 = 10+ pounds extra in a year from an extra 100 cals/day over your burn rate you didn't bother to notice...

Sex is sexy without the why.

It was only for a short period of time and I should have added, no alcohol at all for the entire time.

Glad to hear that you lost your weight, but this is an unhealthy amount of calories for the vast majority of people. Unless you're an incredibly small person or you're so morbidly obese that your life is in imminent danger and you're being supervised by a doctor, it's pretty much never good to drop below12-1400 calories a day. People will often lose pounds on that many, but a fair bit of it is muscle loss, which ultimately does you a huge disservice. Losing muscle means that you lower your basal metabolic rate, which leaves you an awful lot more likely to gain that weight back and then some. The heavier your body is, the more calories you burn, the more you can eat, the faster your metabolism is, etc. It's about finding a healthy balance and keeping healthy pounds (muscle). 1100 calories a day is not a realistic number to maintain, so if you waste your body away to the point where it's only capable of burning about that much, you're forced to stay that low. It's just bad business.

AS i said, I lifted weights 3 times a week, so any muscle loss due to lack of calories was offset by this.

She (we) pretty much base our eating on these ideas. Aside from the alcohol. I'll drink beer once in a while, she has about 1 drink every 5 or 6 years.

The next plan is to try the Volumetrics diet.

sounds like the beginnings of an eating disorder, my ex gf was bulemic and anorexic.. dont make a big fuss about it let her deal with it in her own time or you will only make it worse, dont comment on her weight ever good or bad.. id be more concerned with weather or not she is eating regularly than not eating in public :/
