It's what happens to a nation that forgets its foundation. Can't believe though that it would be this soon! It's the great moralists who lift sexuality out of the mix and make it a higher moral crime than extortion, legal theft, and a host of other nuanced offenses that encompass the "other" 6 deadly sins. Always makes me feel a lot better about myself when I can point the finger and condemn somebody elses offenses!

Black people are by far the majority in SA and any racism is more likely to be against minorities. I realise that was not the way in SA in the past but the apartheid period is now long gone (I hope).

It is indeed a great shame that the new SA would even consider turning it's back on important principles on which it was founded.

The foundation of South Africa was brutal oppression and colonization. This seems right in line with those values.

Black people in SA do not see themselves monolithically because they are not separated from their history as blacks are in the US. Black immigrants in SA have a hard time from the native ethnic groups as well.

the idea of mandela was a good one, but the people of SA arent ready jet to make his dream come true.

Sounds like South Africa is going the religious extreme route...problem is extremes of all kinds just don't work..Feel for the people living there...Why does the world always seem so concerned about sexual preference?? So many other problems to work out...
