| | American and E British TV. How do they differ.
I know with reality TV we Americans have their own versions of Big Brother, The X factor etc...What about comedy and drama series ? For instance (yes) i still watch Desperate Housewives here in the States..Do they show it in England ? If they do how far into the series are you at ? The series finale will be this Sunday in the U.S. .I know the U.S. have made their own versions of many British hits.Does anybody want to make any comments of other shows ?

We get loads of US imports here - the best ones (imo) having been 24, Lost, Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, House, Grey's Anatomy, etc.
Plus the usual tweenager ones, such as the OC, One Tree Hill, Ugly Betty - and the Sex and the City/Desperate Housewives type ones.
We do have serious drama series here - but seemingly not as many as the US - mainly Spooks, Silent Witness, Waking the Dead, etc. Plus our soaps - Eastenders, Corrie, Emmerdale (which seem slightly grittier and more depressing than say the Australian soaps).
Most of our top-rated drama output seems to be period stuff tho, lol - like Downton, Larkrise, Cranford and all that kinda stuff. :)
Shitloads of reality/talent and game shows too.

Don't forget the cop/detective dramas, Joll. I love The Shadow Line, Luthor, and the like. Makes me less depressed about staying in on a Friday night!

Not seen them! Six Feet Under and Dexter passed me by too.
Aussie detective dramas are funny tho (Blue Heelers, hehe), as are the British ones (The Bill, etc).

The golden age of British TV was in the 1960's, 70's and 80's. Today, the only popular TV programmes produced are talent shows such as Britain's Got Talent or the X-Factor. Though ridiculous soap operas (Eastenders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyhoaks, etc) with ludicrous plot lines are somehow quiet popular among British audiences.

I was watching Midsomer Murders and I noticed the pace was slower, but somehow the story felt more intense. Mind you, each episode of Midsomer Murder was more than an hour - almost double the length of an average episode of a US TV show.

Having said that - it doesn't work in reverse either. British remakes of American shows are usually crap, and a poor imitation (eg: 'Lip Service' instead of 'The L Word').

American TV shows suck and Americans are aware of it. British shows suck as much, but Britons think they're high art compared to American TV.
| 14x9 uncut, mushroom head (think of a fly agaria, because of the spots, still got to get those checked tbh) lowhangers the size of a grapefruit (well, the right one, the other one's got some catching up to do but I'm still rooting for ol' lefty). 100% straight, but I don't mind the occasional cock.. or 4.. naked, tied up, surrounded by strange hairy men... But I wouldn't date any of them. Well, maybe on the side
