Cup when riding motorcycle?

anyone else wear one? is it recommended? im looking at getting a bike in the fall when I trade a car for a bike. not looking for something that is super fast just something to bop around town on and maybe weekend trips.

just curious if anyone else wears a cup when they ride. and also looking for recommendations on the best cup to wear if it is needed.

Hi Jeff,

I ride a Harley Sporster and don't wear a cup. I don't imagine it would be comfortable in the sitting position of being on a bike.

I have riden for years and haven't had a need for one. I can't see why anyone would need to wear one while riding. My answer is "no."

I would also not recommend it. The seating position on just about everything would make it uncomfortable. Also I can't imagine it would fit under you leather or textile riding pants that I'm positive (ahem) you would wear... especially after taking an MSF Basic Rider's Course to receive proper emergency training and get the insurance discount.

I know a guy that lost most of his junk in a motorcycle accident. He lost most of his dick and 1 testicle. He flew over the handlebars and It got ripped off. So actually is a lot more dangerous than you might think Granted he was wearing Basketball shorts and freeballing.

Ridden bikes for 20 years and have never worn a cup! Unheard of here in the UK, if you don't want to loose your junk or hurt yourself, learn to ride one safe and wear the proper gear, having said that we don't get the nice, hot, sunny weather here in the Uk to be tempted to ride in only shorts and flip flops!

Wearing this kind of 'clothing' he should have worn a cup when he was riding his bicycle as well. One emergency stop and you're flying over the handlebars just as well.

In the above mentioned accident, the guy probably lost more than only his jewels. I guess he lost quite a lot of skin too.

As said you should know how to ride a motorbike defensively and dress accordingly.

His was an isolated incident. Out of all the motorcycle accidents that I've ever heard of (and there's a lot!!) including the one where the drunk Harley rider rear-ended a horse @ 70mph (neither survived), I've never heard of anyone losing their junk unless it was part of the sliding on the road that did it. Even then it was just skinned up.

I've been driving bikes all my life. I drive a 2009 Honda CBR600RA everyday and I can't imagine wearing a cup. There would just be no room for it besides being really uncomfortable. There's almost no room for my dick as it is because of the re-designed tank. (and I sit back away from the tank)

I wouldn't sweat it. Being comfortable is utmost on a bike and one of the reasons one drives a bike. Wearing a cup just wouldn't be.
