What percentage of Gays are Democrats?

I was just wondering if any of you guys had solid figures or sources on this. Thanks.

The reason I ask is I just saw a study that 55% of gays vote republican. I thought it was strange but haven't found any thing to dispute it.

Then I think a more appropriate question would be what percentage of gay people are Republican. 45% of the gay population could be Democrats but that doesn't necessarily mean that 55% are Republicans.

As to your question, however it be worded; I don't know.

Where did you find *that* number? Give us a starting point, please.

Honestly I can't remember. Not sure if I read it or heard it somewhere. It could be totally false. I was just hoping that someone on here had some solid sources on the subject.

What study is this? There's no way.

Among the 4% of people who self-identified as GLBT in the 2008 exit polls (n=about 700), the vote spread was Obama 70%, McCain 27%. Closeted gays are probably more Republican, and an exit poll is a non-random sample. There are your caveats.

I don't think sexual orientation is asked when your registering to vote, so there's no way to know.

I'd vote Democrat in the US, and I'm bi.

I veer between newLabour and moderate Tory in the UK tho. :)

First you claim you "just saw a study" and then say you don't know where and you don't know if you read it or heard it and it could be totally false. I would have to go with totally false.

I know that the tories here got 9% of the gay vote, I doubt I'd vote for either party in the states. I would vote for Bernie Sanders though!

I'd be more interested to know how many gay republicans are wealthy and how many are poor or working class?

I've also wondered how many non wealthy republicans went to college? (or graduated high school)

When you hear the rhetoric.........when you see just how much of the gay agenda the Republicans have actively worked to put into place...it would amaze me that ANY gay people would vote Republican! If ever there was an anti-gay party that salivates at the thought of all that money raised by promoting homophobia, it's the Republicans!

most out guys I know are Democrat ..............since the Republican would like to see all gays dead or in concentration camps.

Not sure how many are wealthy but odds are the majority are well off. I also wager that the number of very feminine gay Republicans is very low. Gay Republicans seem to want to blend in.
