Not sure, but I DO know that in addition to losing weight, one needs to exercise with weighs (and cardio too, preferably) in order to "change their body shape".
Seriously. It's "Getting fit 101". Eat less, exercise more. Weights, and cardio. Yields the cnange you seek.

Congrats! Frustrating isn't it? I lost 60 pounds and people thought I lost about 20 pounds.
First thing is, who did you do it for? Hopefully it is for yourself. What work have you done to firm up? Dieting isn't all you have to do. You gotta work out to tighten everything up.
Also depending on your shape, it can take longer to show a change. If you carried your weight evenly over your whole body, people don't notice as quickly.
Just know you did it for yourself and be proud!

what/how much you eat determines how much you will weigh
so if you lift a lot of weights while eating a high protein diet, you will have a bulkier "strong" look, like a football player
if you do tons of cardio while always having a caloric deficit, you will be very thin
if you do a combination of both, you get that strong, lean look that most people try to achieve
congrats on losing weight and i hope i answered your question

Body shape isn't necessarily related to BMI or even body weight because you can have a low BMI or bodyweight and still have a lot of body fat. The best way to change the shape of your body is to focus on weight training. Not necessarily body building but definitely work on weights. Does your routine mainly consist of cardio?

I went from 2XL to XL
I do not think it would be ever possible to get a smaller size due to my large rib cage.
I went from 225-230 or so to 173 at my lowest
Currently at 220 But I am in better shape then when I was at 173.

If you were what we'd clinically call "morbidly obese", it can take a lot of weight before your shape starts to change. When you cross the threshold into the realm of what is clinically called "overweight" (by bmi), I think you'll notice, and when you reach "normal" weight, you'll definitely notice.
Don't think just because your shape doesn't appear to have changed externally that the weight loss hasn't had a major effect. 45lbs is a lot of weight, and you should be proud.
Don't get discouraged and don't stop what you're doing. If anything, ramp up your workouts and diet.
| I don't think that means what you think it means. |

Congratulations! 45 pounds is a considerable amount to shed.
Good luck reaching your goal. There is no cut-and-dry number to shoot for since so many factors are involved. A bodybuilder can have a BMI in the high 20s or even into 30s and have dangerously low body fat.
One of the things I used to tell my followers was to ask yourself: am I happy with my body? Do I feel good about what I am eating? If you cannot answer an honest and absolute yes, then you have to find good feeling thoughts that move you in the right direction. Such as: I know I have the will power to stick to my meal plan. I enjoy getting outside for a walk in my neighborhood. I like that I am losing all this extra weight I put on and it really isn't so hard afterall.
You gotta feel good about yourself in order to go from where you are to where you want to be. You can't think: I would be happier if only I were ___________. Then you never get to ________.

Losing weight is great! But you want to do it with a combination of diet and exercise, not just diet alone. Exactly what the combo is that you'll need is very individual.
Personally, I dropped a lot of weight on cardio alone (and diet) and then started doing weight training and floor exercises to tone up... now if I don't eat enough I start losing weight and looking a tad too thin. I stick, more or less, to the diet that helped me shed some poundage (easy- no white food, low fat, high protein, moderate carbs, tons of veggies) and I've gotten obsessed with juicing.

I guess the good news is I'm basically out of noticable bodyfat in my face and neck and limbs, so ti can't really help but come from my stomach now!

is there a link, or can you give me a quick breakdown of what the %'s are for morbid obesity (pretty sure I was there at the start) and overweight and standard
I am 5'10 and 31 years old

Just to be clear with everyone the shape I'm talking about is basically my belly dropping out
which if I had actually thought that through I would have asked the question more like what's a 5'10 guy supposed to weigh
I have a good deal of musclemass (people usually mistake me for having played football back in school) I have thickly muscled arms and shoulders, my legs are ok but could improve a bit, tho I'm not concerned with that aspect of things and I have actually had my butt complimented on it's roundness!
so I am ok with the shape of my body basically aside from the gut
so I guess I really phrased it wrong due to feeling a little down
I figured after dropping that much weight I'd look different, but I basically feel like I am a smaller fat guy
which is good, cus that's a step to being a nonfat guy
but I guess I was just hoping to see the belly start to flatten out sooner then this
other people say they notice a difference tho
