| | What NBA team should I root for?
I've decided to start getting into basketball and the NBA (I know that the season is just about over, yes), and I need a team to root for.
I always kind of like the Celtics, but I can't start cheering for them now, I'll appear to be bandwagoning.
So it'd be nice of any basketball fans out there could give me a few suggestions and why they're a worthwhile team to follow.
Right now I'm kind of choosing between the Mavs, Clippers, Wolves, Bucks and Bobcats, but I'll take any suggestions.
Here are the other teams I follow:
New Jersey Devils
Denver Broncos
NY Giants and Jets
New York Yankees
San Francisco Giants

Dallas Mavericks.
Great Organization.
Great Players.
Great Coach.
Great Fans.
And.....a little stat you may not have known, they are the 3rd most valuable Franchise behind The Lakers and The Knicks(I believe).

Clippers will always be in the Lakers shadow so don't go for them.
If I was you, i'd got for the Timberwolves, good young team, and they work very hard to win. Mind you, Minnesota is very cold so make sure your wearing plenty of clothes if you go to watch them.

Out of the teams you've listed, I'd say the T'Wolves as well. Ricky Rubio, before he was injured, was exciting to watch and I hope he returns to form. Kevin Love, as much as I dislike him, has also proven that he can play in the NBA. They're probably a year away from contention.
Personally, I love the San Antonio Spurs. Sean Elliott draining 3's drew me in to basketball period and I've stuck with them through the end of the Robinson era and all the way through the Duncan era. They're not a very flashy or exciting organization, but they're pretty no-nonsense and have the results to show they're one of the elite. Hopefully, they pull out two more wins to get to the finals.

Brooklyn Nets
-You already root for New York teams it appears
-They are moving to a new city/arena next year, so it's going to be somewhat of a fresh start. Makes sense for you to root for them, being a new fan and all
And the best reason of all? They have one of the few owners in the NBA who puts winning above profits. For that reason alone, they will be competitive soon enough. Even if they have some tough years ahead in the short term.

I didn't even care for the Nets when they were in New Jersey.
I do root for a few NY teams, but only those 3. I'll have to see how they look after the move, but until then, they'll just be a wild gambit for me.

Sports Fanatic
My son is a sports fanatic and he has well-worn t-shirts, caps and sweatshirts from every local team. One night, we were getting ready for an annual fund raiser for our local theater organization.
My wife called out to my son, "This is a pretty fancy dinner. You'll have to wear a sports jacket."
My son answered, "Which team"?
