D-Day

On this day in 1944 thousands of brave young heroes selflessly stormed the beaches at Normandy to defeat the Nazi scourge that infested Europe and North Africa at that time. It was the begining of the the end for Hitler and Naziism.
To the survivors of that fateful day, and to today's brave men and women who serve, you have my utmost and undying gratitude for the terrible sacrifices you've made in defense of freedom loving people all over the world. I for one will never forget.

And oddly - it was Rommel's wife's birthday, so he was back in Germany (against orders?) when we unexpectedly invaded, hehehe. :P

Rommel's wife is scarier than the fuhrer

You can love your country without having to love your government

Yes, to all the allied forces who participated to once again bring peace. Germany, for all that she and her people have been through, and up until very recent times a divided country, is still the powerhouse of Europe. Why is it that the rest of the world is not able to learn why this is so? Is it the country, or the people and their creative minds? Or both? I doubt very much that much of her population once again wanted to go to war so soon after the first.
