Are the Kardashians damaging Americas image??

I doubt it. I know the name and hear it in the background here and there, but I don't think they're as well known or as popular as some people think they are.

I'm a regular TV junkie and I couldn't pick Kim Kardashian out of a police lineup.

I think that's actually a "Cardassian", but it's a nice image anyhow (as long as the Romulans win )

american celebrity culture and the way in which the world views it was pretty much wrecked during the reagan administration.... people are fascinated by it because it's not 'real' life to most of us, and so it's able to be portrayed in contexts such as reality television because the people sitting around watching it have no connection to it at all other than the fact that it's totally NOT reality.... folks like the kardashians and the jersey shore crew are simply capitalizing on it as much as they can before the fad ends and society moves on to something bigger, better, and more important....

well put.... i have never seen a show about a kardashian, a snooki, a dance mom, a big brother, a hill, a bachelor(ette), a housewife, or any of that crap EVER in my life.... i would never support that crap on the airwaves by watching it, and i'm so glad i opted for the internet over cable television.... now i watch what i want, when i want....

I was at a friend's house getting ready to go out - and they had the kardashian show on, and the 3 girls looked at me like I'd grown a second head because I had no clue who was whom on that show. And I still couldn't tel lyou which girl was which.

Yeah a joke is a joke but not everyone gets that they are a joke. Hence why they still make money. Its not just them though, there are celebs all over the place that don't actually have a career other than being famous. Its an amazing mind bender. How do you become famous for being famous?

Anyway, i don't think they themselves are the problem in any country. I say that cause i'm sure other countries have their own versions. The problem lies in those that support them and i mean daily.

For some reason people need people like them. They weren't the first and will not be the last. I guarantee that the second they are no longer in the news, someone somewhere will take their place. (paris hilton anyone?)

Long story short. Its more a commentary of what a good amount of people here in the states value/love to hate and use to fill their day.

It's true that every country has its 'rubbish tv' but what is different about this lot is that despite OVERWHELMINGLY negative reaction to their gold digging and overall bad taste,they and the tv company that promote them...WON'T TAKE THE HINT and pull the plug on all of this.
We in the UK have wannabe celebs all over the place,but this prolonged agony would have been shot down long ago.

It's not just the Kardashians. It's the stupid fucking idiots on Jersey Shore, Real Housewives, The Biggest Loser and every other dumb reality show out there.

America is full of mostly stupid sheep who watch garbage. Therefore, garbage is the most popular and mainstream, as opposed to shows with actual substance.

I think reality television in general is damaging to America's image. Of course the Kardashians are a big part of it.
