| | Male Breast Cancer Info Needed
Just recently, my right nipple was extremely sensitive and there was a lump under it. The doctor said it was an inflamed lymph node and gave me antibiotics for a week. Problem is that it still hurts and the lump is still there. Not that much info on the web, so I thought it would be better to find out some info from guys that have had this problem. I am waiting to see a specialist, but the wait is 6 months !!. This is a serious post. Thanks for any info.

Go back to your doctor. Could be mastitis, as men do have a little glandular tissue there. Have you injured your chest, got a nipple piercing, etc?
Male breast cancer is vanishingly rare & breast cancer is usually not painful, so unlikely to be the issue here. But go and see your doctor again.

But go and see your doctor again. | Health care in Georgia for the uninsured is dreadfully slow. New appointments take 6 months !!!! I have also found that a side effect from one of the meds for my diabetes control can cause inflamed lymph nodes--doesn't specify which ones can be affected. Thanks for the info. any other info will be appreciated.

Check into a lymph drainage massage...have them just work on that area, unless it's just too painful to touch. Sometimes lymph nodes have to be manually drained. It's not the most enjoyable massage in the world...but works wonders. In the meantime, drink LOTS of water... try to flush your system.

Do you have any family history of cancer?
US healthcare is rubbish (unless you have a lot of cash). I am completely bemused by the objections to the health care bill.

Thanks for the info! Doctor thinks it was reaction to medication. Although i stopped taking it, the lump is still there--just not as painful to the touch. The entire right breast is extended out further than the left side almost an inch. I will look into the massage. Again, thanks for all the info.

This morning, the swelling has gone down somewhat. Will keep trying. The drug prescribed for the neuropathy was Gabepentin--seems to be the cause of the proble,. The needle biopsy was a royal pain--results are still pending. Thanks for all the info!!!

Breast cancer in men is indeed rare, very rare, although it does happen. Rollerboy, what you describe sounds more like an inflammation of some sort, but I'd aim to go back to the doctor. Massage is fine if it is inflammation, but not if it's cancer. I'd want to be happy that is not cancer before having the area massaged.

Thanks guys for all the info !! The swelling has gone downbut the mass is still there and hurts. Doctors are dismissing it saying that it shouldn't hurt !! I guess I'll have to get terminally ill before the doctors will take my complaint seriously !!!

Thousands of men each year are diagnosed with breast cancer. Many, like myself, have a family history of it on their mothers' side, which puts one a a FAR greater risk. Check with Planned Parenthood and see if you can get a mammogram; not something you want to do on a regular basis (DAMN painful!), but it can give you the best answer you'll find short of a biopsy.

I would be a pain in the ass at the docs office. No matter what the situation is with ones body, you must be very proactive and keep on them. I would also talk to an office manager and see when the best time to call to take someones cancelled appointment time. Keep at it until you are satisfied.
