What an absolutely moronic, idiotic post SI. You're just spreading ignorance. |
The news media were/are publishing pictures of a kid that was 12 years old. Key elements of the crime scene were not disclosed and ultimately Zimmerman was in danger of being murdered.
If he is found guilty by the justice system, I hope he gets the full punishment allowable by law.
However, the media is not the judge and jury in our society and hopefully the justice system will do what it is designed to do.
It is horrible what happened to this Martin kid. However, I have some problems with how much media attention this received, when there are thousands of young black kids that are killed every year and we don't hear anything of those murders - simply because the murders weren't carried out at the hands of a Latino.
Are the thousands of other African American teenagers that were killed in the last year somehow not as tragic as the death of Trayvon Martin? I don't think so. If Zimmerman were an African American this case probably wouldn't have hit anything other than local news. What does that say about race relations in the U.S.? Not much.
