You see, this is a great example of how it has become fashionable to portray masculinity as negative and undesirable quality.
For many people today, masculinity has become synonymous with idiocy and brutality - as Hung Jon demonstrates in his post. However, this is not really an accurate representation of how men behave, so why such a knee jerk reaction?
Nobody has anything positive to say about men anymore, wheras to criticise women is seen as some kind of heinous crime. Why is it so taboo to state the positive qualities of men?
The answer, is that feminism has made it this way - because of feminst hegemony in the main stream media, politics and elsewhere, to speak positively about men is dubbed "male chauvinism" and viewed as a kind of bigotry. Speaking positively about women, however, is considered totally acceptable; of course, this is a blatant double standard.
It is masculine drives that make men adventurers, explorers, innovators, and inventors. Masculinity - not femininity - has pushed humanity forward out of the stone ages.
Ironically, it is the achievements of men - in creating a civilisation where we enjoy such ease and comfort - that has allowed women to prosper at all. Feminism owes its existence to the hard work and diligence of generation upon generation of industrious men, yet shows absolutely no recognition or gratitude for this, instead preferring to demonise and berate masculinity as an undesirable trait, stating, for exmaple, that men suffer from "testosterone poisoning".
Modern men are taught to belittle themselves, and see the worst in masculinity - as Hung Jon has shown above - whilst modern women are encouraged to see on the best in themselves, and taught to trample all over men. As the radical feminist Valerie Solanas put it, her kind of women are to be "dominant, secure, self-confident, nasty, violent, selfish, independent, proud, thrill-seeking, free-wheeling, arrogant females, who consider themselves fit to rule the universe".
