Do Not Use Viagra, Cialis, Levitra Recreationally

There is more and more evidence that these meds cause an upregulaton of the enzyme they usually block and can lead one to become almost completely impotent. There are no longterm studies of regular use

There are no longterm studies of regular use of ED meds as far as I know and there are now lots of anecdotal stories of men becoming dead dick by using these meds. Occasional use is OK a few times a year maybe but there is a phenomena called tachyphylaxis by which the human body stops a med from working. It can occur in as little as 6 months but surely after 5 years you may start having real problems. If yo are young and use ED drugs just to get harder but don't really need them, you are asking for a world of hurt later in life.

If you are having a bit of erectile issues, do your homework and try to get to the bottom of the issue by understanding how one might overcome it w/o ED meds.

I said point blank there are no scientific studies of longterm ED usage. I can ask you the same question. Show me a study that points to ED drugs maintaining their efficacy over the long haul.

I can point to a million anecdotal stories of men for whom the ED drugs no longer work and they have serious impotency issues. I was playing golf witn not one but 2 urologists yesterday and both said V, C, E loses efficacy after long term usage.

I may be alarmist but I know there are 30 year olds who use V purely recreationally and they don't know the danger.

Understand the entire mechanics of achieving erection and you might then say hmmmmmm? A lot of things need to be lined up for a dick to get hard.

Perhaps, but he didn't make a claim, and is merely following a long-standing tradition here (albeit, seemingly a now old-school one) where people are asked to source any claim that they make. The nature of the penis, and the many myths around it, made this the standard practice here, long ago.

And the "well you can't prove it wrong" method, has never been an effective method of proof in debate. It's kind of the adult version of "nu-UH!"

Or:
"Bigfoot exists!"
'No he doesn't. Prove it.'
"Prove he doesn't."

Neither side have "proved" anything, but the countering "No he doesn't" didn't initialize the bold statement of a possibly monstrous (or damaging) existence.

Tachyphylaxis is something that can happen with ANY medication that you take....
Tachyphylaxis is a medical term describing a rapidly decreasing response to a drug following administration of the initial doses. It means the drug will no longer have the desired effect. It is VERY rare. So someone using viagra or cialis for true erectile dysfunction who is suffering from tachyphylaxis, will no longer get the desired effect. If you have a "Normally" functioning dick, and are using viagara recreationally, it would meaqn that you would no longer experience your desired "boost" in function. It doesn't mean that your normally functioning dick would no longer function normally.

I changed my direction. I posted another thread asking for anyone for whom those meds are not as effective. We shall see. I can't find any studies on long term V usage. I can find tons of first person anecdotal info on it losing effectiveness.

Why use it recreationally if your dick works OK? That makes no sense.

I'm a registered nurse and did a quick yet thorough review of the medical literarature regarding long term use of viagra and Cialis......yes, there are studies that show there is a small segment of men taking viagra for whom after some time it no longer works. So basically, they are where they started. There were no studies i could find regarding the recreational use of Viagra. Viagra does no "damage" to the penis. It simply increases blood flow. The thing people on Vaigra/Cialis should worry about who use it long term are vision problems. That is the most common and serious side effect of most ED drugs. Especially cialis as it is likely to be used more often than the prescribed 36 hour dosing interval.

The question that needs to answered is why it stops working? I think you may mis understand the mode of operation. In a normal erection, there are chemicals that block blood from escaping the penis causing it to fill, and chemicals that break down the chems that block blood flow causing it to go soft. V,C,and L block an enzyme that destroys the chems that cause the veins to relax. Hence a really hard cock. I don't believe blood flow in increased to any great extent although I could be wrong. The gates are just locked down tighter. There is no reason for the drug to stop working IMO unless you are getting an upregulation of the PDE5 enzyme, the one that kills the erection. That why you need a larger dose.

Various drugs stop working all the time as IndustrialSize pointed out, answer that larger question and you could be rich.

My concern is not whether they stop working. My issue is do they create a problem where prior none existed. If they cause the body to spit out a lot more of the bad erection destroying enzyme, then they can CAUSE, not help ED.

The body is amazing in its ability to adjust to the meds we hit it with. If at age 30 you get pretty decent erectionw w/o V, and you pop it just to have a killer hard on, did you just start the process of desenstizing the epithelium of the penis to V by increasing the amount of PDE5 (the bad enzyme). More PDE5 means worse erections in the future.

No need to guess how it works:

Mechanism of action

The mechanism of action of Sildenafil citrate involves the release of nitric oxide (NO) in the corpus cavernosum of the penis. NO binds to the receptors of the enzyme guanylate cyclase which results in increased levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), leading to smooth muscle relaxation (vasodilation) of the intimal cushions of the helicine arteries, resulting in increased inflow of blood and an erection.[7]
Sildenafil is a potent and selective inhibitor of cGMP specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) which is responsible for degradation of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum. The molecular structure of sildenafil is similar to that of cGMP and acts as a competitive binding agent of PDE5 in the corpus cavernosum, resulting in more cGMP and better erections.[7] Without sexual stimulation, and therefore lack of activation of the NO/cGMP system, sildenafil should not cause an erection. Other drugs that operate by the same mechanism include tadalafil (Cialis) and vardenafil (Levitra).
Sildenafil is metabolised by hepatic enzymes and excreted by both the liver and kidneys. If taken with a high-fat meal, there may be a delay in absorption of sildenafil and the peak effect might be reduced slightly as the plasma concentration will be lowered.

I am afraid you are pretty wrong on your conjecture. Viagra and Cialus do not cause long term problems in getting erections for the vast majority of men. In fact just the opposite is true. There was a study done a couple of years ago that was reported in Mens Health magazine that recommended every male over 30 take Viagra occasionally. The study recommended using these drugs once a month whether you had ED or not. The reason for this was because these drugs fills the penis up more completely and can aid the corpus cavernosum from diminishing its capacity to hold blood.

You should rely more on science rather than "a million anecdotal" stories before making claims.

ahh Pharmaceuticals.

"There was a study done a couple of years ago that was reported in Mens Health magazine that recommended every male over 30 take Viagra occasionally. The study recommended using these drugs once a month whether you had ED or not. "

That one to me reeks of magazine lobbying. Yes Virginia, it happens, makes for a quick article to get all the information sent to the writer from Pfizer or whom ever.

It's common knowledge that we're all used as guinnea pigs for new drugs. Many tests that have bad results get hidden, etc. We're talking big bucks here.

Go for it, take all you want. I'll sit back a few more years until I really need the pills.
I actually would like one that could keep the pole down for a day or 2 so I can get some rest!
