OK, so, I'm getting off of work, and going to my car in the lot, right? And there are these fanatics sticking flyers/papers on cars wiper blades. Well, I make my way to my car, and there's this skinny bearded little geek with a cap on, too anxious to make points with the group.
So, he's charming at 1st by saying to me as I pass, as this conversation goes "Hello sir, I represent the church of ***********. would you be interested in some reading material?
"No, thanks excuse me. "
"Aw, c'mon, man, just one piece."
"Look, get out of here before I call the cops!"
So, he gets aggravated and says "Look, just take the damn thing, ok?" and proceeds to quickly stick some material under my wiper blade and started off to the group he was with. Well, that did it for me, since I'd dealt with enough IDIOTS for one morning 8 hr shift, jumped out of my car, grabbed the papers and yelled, Hey! hey, get back here!"
And charged after him.
So, he's looking at me all paranoid and yelling, "Man, stay away from me, all right?"
But I wasn't too forgiving after my day and almost grabbed his hoodie, and his "friends" who just noticed this come running up.
Meanwhile, I was in mid berate yelling, "LISTEN UP; WHEN I TELL YOU I DON'T WANT YOUR CRAP ON MY CAR, DAMMIT,YOU-LISTEN!!"
So, A local patrol car who had been in the area arrived, and both sides told their stories.
The kid wanted to press charges on me for assault, but once the cop realized these idiots had slathered my lot and others in the area, and they were soliciting, he told them to split or they'd ALL be charged with soliciting on private property.
Gotta love religious nuts, huh?

When we were like 21 or so, we met a group of Mennonite guys our age and were asking them questions and chatting. They were pretty cool.
Then my friend asked them if they ever put on normal clothes and go around in disguise.
One of them answered, "You mean like in an airplane?"
I laughed so hard it hurt.Posted 04-25-2012 at 03:34 PM by vince

Darned Amish!
I did find it comical that he's supposed to be representing some loving group of religious sorts and is screaming at you to 'take the damn thing'. Yeah, those Amish fellows crack me up when they start their swearing.
Serious note, glad you got away and that the cops realized those nuts were in the wrong. I'm fine with people having beliefs in religion just don't go pushing it at others.Posted 04-26-2012 at 08:49 AM by Hoss

Chuck, you were NOT guilty of assault. It is not against the law to tell someone to leave your property alone or to basically go fuck off.
And as far a someone asking me if I want to got to heaven, I always tell them one of two things...."what makes you think you're going?" or "if YOU'RE going to be there, no thank you"!Posted 05-27-2012 at 06:14 PM by bigboy9239

Speaking of heaven,
After I left my law enforcement job, I became head of security for a dept. store chain in Philly a few years ago (more money actually)...we had problems with Gypsies. Yes, real life gypsies...like form Romania. They had no compunction about stealing us blind because they felt it was their right as Roma (what they call themselves) to take from the Gadja (us non-gypsies), because they had been persecuted for centuries...
I caught this one women...who told me as long as I kept arresting them, I would never get into heaven....of course, I told her that there's no thieves in my heaven.
Of course, if you Had grabbed his hoodie, you WOULD have been guilty of (in PA anyway) Simple Assault, (3rd degree misdemeanor) and him and soliciting without a permit (Summary offense) . Most municipalities require a permit.Posted 1 Week Ago at 09:25 AM by bigboy9239
