The man grew up in Overbrook, West Philly......I used to hang out there. It was NOT the ghetto then. Working class....but not hardscrabble. Sort of like Germantown, but not as houdie toudie. But like most black enclaves, you still couldn't be TOO soft to survive there. - Does anyone else remember how he refused to kiss another actor in the 1993 film version of "Six Degrees of Separation" even though it was intrinsic to the plot? Apparently, he hasn't gotten over his homophobia in the last 19 years. Quite an overreaction to an attempted kiss on the cheek, I would say.
