i just recently heard this statement...

i never really thought about it much.

obviously, it is not always true, but some say it is much more prevalent...

do you find that to be the case in your family, or in your friends families?

who do you and your brothers/sisters look like?

I have a brother and two half-sisters. One half-sister and I resemble our father's side; my brother and other half-sister resemble their respective mother's sides of the family. Seems random to me.

But - more people would say I look more like my Grand Dad....

I think its all random....

A little off-topic, but I've found that generally girls who look like their dads (even if the dad is unattractive), are more likely to be beauties.

I don't look like either of them though when i glare i look like mother.
My twin sister doesnt look like either of them either but then again she doesnt look naff all like me either.

i have my mother's lips and my father's nose. i guess i favor my mom a little more overall especially adding in the skin tone and dimples. my sister looks so much like me facially it's hard to say, i guess she's virtually the same face-wise.

It's true with me. I tend to look more like my mother and my sister looks more like my father.

I have another theory. Boys look like a combination of both of their grandfathers and girls look like a combination of both of their grandmothers.

I've always had a theory that my brother and I were conceived by the milkman. We did not resemble anyone in the family.
It always amused me when I was older when they had a party and there was someone who I did not know they would invariably ask; "How do you know the host and hostess?"

I've been told I look just like my dad when he was younger (especially now that I've grown my hair out), and people tend to think my brother looks a lot like our mom. So, it's half-true for our family, I guess.

My (half) sister looks like my aunt...on my maternal grandfather's side.

I look like my uncle...on my maternal grandfather's side.

But saying that...all of my family looks English. Whereas apparently I look anything from Canadian to Jewish to French :tongue:

Um, wouldn't that just be your aunt and uncle on your mother's (maternal) side? You're only talking one generation up so I don't get why you'd go one generation further when it doesn't clarify anything. Your uncle from your maternal grandfather's side is the same person if you'd said maternal grandmother's side as he'd be son to both of them, no?

I'm told I'm the spitting image of my father's mum. This would support the mother to son, then father to daughter theory. However I'm also told I resemble his sister (who resembled her mother strongly), which doesn't support the theory. I only resemble my father in the eyes (and apparently his walk). There is zero similarity in physical appearance to my mother though I have her voice.

I look just like my mother and her father's family. Everyone who meets us always remarks on how much I look like her. I look very similar to my paternal great-grandfather, almost to a point of looking like his twin.

My daughter looks more like me except she has her Mum's nose. (and she's gorgeous! :wink: )
