Over a week ago (last Thursday) I brought a girl home from a club. We had protected sex, though (very brief) unprotected oral sex.

That weekend (Saturday night), while I was out with some friends, I started to feel a bit "off". I felt shivery, flat, drained, quite suddenly. So I made an excuse and went home.

I woke up with a terrible headache, a sore throat, and flu-like symptoms. I lay in bed for most of the day.

Now, it's been about 10 days and ever since I've felt spacey, zoned-out, loopy. My concentration is seriously screwed-- I literally have trouble reading. My vision is slightly blurry. The world seems to "vibrate". I'm terrified about this.

I got blood tests done (for my thyroid, and a bunch of other stuff, not STDs), and all came back ok. My lymph nodes are ok. I don't have Mono.

The spacey feeling is fucking terrible, and it has persisted. Like I said I have trouble reading, like my brain just cannot comprehend the words. My brain feels "heated", foggy, fuzzy. I feel like something has been knocked off kilter, like I'm perpetually hungover and doped up. I have almost zero appetite, I lost about 7 lbs in a week.

I'm awaiting further, more detailed, blood tests.

In the meantime, I notice my "pubic area" feels slightly tender, roughly the area over my bladder. This is the first time I thought "could I have gotten some kind of viral infection from that girl?"

I suppose if she had this flu/bug you could have caught it from her, just from kissing or being in close proximity (not necessarily from sex).

You could have caught an STI too but those do not affect your energy levels or vision, etc. They just affect your sex organ(s).

Maybe you are experiencing psychosomatic symptoms. That is, you are imagining symptoms that are not really there.

did you mention the unprotected oral sex to the doctor? It took me 2 weeks for test results to come back when I was tested for (the LACK of) STD's.... I had unprotected oral sex and got the same scare.. mine came back all clear and good, but it was 2 weeks of "damn, what is this?"

I didn't get dizzy or anything but had other symptoms that could have suggested. But the guy was clean, just like 'he told me he was"....

I always considered myself to be the extremely careful, cautious type... but am even more so now.

sounds like the flu to me.

if you don't get better in the next week check it out. but any std would require more incubation time than that

If you had protected vaginal and/or anal sex, then you were protected, period; the oral sex did leave you exposed for an assortment of bacterial STIs, though nothing viral that I can think of. If I were you, I'd abstain from any sexual contact until you've tested negative for a bacterial STI. This is most definitely not an HIV issue, provided you didn't leave out anything in the OP.

    Good luck

Hey buddy. I dont think you have anything to worry about. All the activity you described is extremely low risk. I have literally worried myself sick about this in the past and its always been over nothing. It could all be psychosomatic. If you're still worried, go to your doctor again and tell them everything and have a test done and one again in 3 months to be sure. Dont 'google' symptoms or self diagnose....it will only make you worry more. It could well be glandular fever (mono). That takes a while to show up in tests I believe, but I'm not a doctor. Also ask the girl you were with to get tested if you're worried. Give yourself as much peace of mind as possible!

Thank you for the reassurance above.

Also, it's absolutely and emphatically not psychosomatic. It's certainly not "in my head", and it has nothing to do with anxiety. There is zero doubt about it.

I'm feeling a little better today, though still dizzy and finding it extremely difficult to focus on reading. :(

Hmmm, I guess it could be. No, my doctor never tested for that, but I'll ask for it. Thank you, I appreciate the input.

Just because you're actually sick, doesn't mean you couldn't be making yourself feel even worse by worrying about it. Just eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of liquids, and relax while you let your doctor do his/her job.

Having once worked as a PHDI (in "another" life) I'd be inclined to agree with the above highlighted.

Symptoms showing up the next day is unlikely. Possibly you had a cold or flu that takes a few days to show affects and it popped up just then. Possibly from exhaustion from sex.
Most likely it was that because nothing shows up that quick. Signs would be present on the girl as well. Most likely you felt bad and then over estimated that outcome which you then believed. Funny think you can be in a sauna and feel like your walking in snow if you trick your mind.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that someone might have slipped something in your drink on Saturday night. Some bad "E" or something, or some good "E" that you had a bad reaction to.

All I can say is at least you went to the doctor for tests. So many times people self diagnose and don't bother to consult a medical professional. Best advise is to inform the doctor that you had unprotected oral sex and ask to be tested for possible STDs that can be transmitted orally. While you are at it, have an HIV test to give yourself peace of mind.

I'm an RN. The spacey feeling could be indicative of a urinary tract infection.

While I'm not a doctor I would probably guess a UTI for the feeling but a friend of mine also felt the same so possibly vertigo or an inner ear infection?

All my bloods came back normal. Slightly high white blood cells.

I am truly sick with worry. It's so frustrating that I can't diagnose anything.

Really? I don't feel any pain when I urinate. I'll get tested.

I think vertigo and things like labyrinthisis affect vision and balance more than cognition. I feel like I've been in a room filled with fumes, and my brain is damaged as a result. Everything is vibrating. :frown1:

If your doctor hasn't done STD testing yet, ask him/her to do so, get all of the test. Better to be safe then sorry. Best of luck, I hope you find an answer and feel better soon.
