Some of the descriptions you guys have given to frottage makes it sound very hot, and some of the pics and vids are hot, too. I especially like the ones in which one or both of the guys cums all over each other's dicks.
However, in my own experience, I never thought of it as anything more than foreplay. My guess is that the thrill of frottage or docking is mainly psychological, not based on the actual physical sensations of the act. (Come to think of it, I could say the same thing about most sex acts.)
I'll try to remember to pay more attention the next time I do it, and see if there's more to it than I previously thought.
I did try inter-crural fucking once. It just sort of happened one night. I had had sex earlier in the evening with the guy I was dating at the time.
