Why would you not clean it? I simply remove the sleeve, rinse it out thoroughly with hot water, from both ends. Then leave it soak in a sink full of hot water for an hour or so. Remove it and let it air dry. Never been a problem for me. Don't make cleaning any harder than it has to be.
