Thadjock there is a plastic surgery procedure for phimosis, Y-V preputioplasty. When I was doing research before my circumcision I ran across it and other forms of corrective surgeries. However, I just dont feel most people feel the money is worth it. As a person who has experienced sex with and without a foreskin quite honestly I cant tell the difference. I feel the bottomline is, if you have no problems parting with your foreskin then that is the only thing you need to take into account.
The whole thing is, while some here may feel circumcision is this grave injustice to the world it really isn't. There currently is no peer-reviewed evidence that clearly states circumcised males are less sensitive than their intact bretheren.
As for your assumption on how many people actually have phimosis, I don't believe the number is neglible. The thing is I live in a country where circumcision is not the norm and males do not openly discuss penile problems. Heck, I didn't even know I had a problem with my penis till I was 24. I actually thought the soreness after having sex was supposed to happen. Then on a board much like this I found other people with the same issue, researched it. Went to 2 seperate doctors, weighed my options and then got cut.
I think in areas where I live where guys may just not even know any better the numbers may be quite high (when I say high anything over 5% of the population would be high in this case)
