Girth is also WAY overestimated. I saw a video of Ramon (of Bangbros) and he measured about 6 1/2 inches in girth, mid-shaft. He definitely has one of the thickest cocks in porn, yet you hear all of these stories about guys with 8 or 9 inches in girth.
Girth is even more deceiving than length, because cocks come in very different shapes. Just because a guy's dick looks very thick in a porno doesn't mean that it really is. Anyone ever hear of size comparison shots? That's where you put your cock next to an object so we can all see how it compares. I mention it because few people seem willing to do it. They've got no problem saying they're 10 inches but low and behold, no way of actually proving it. And as always, not enough verification pics.
I think it's better to compare by putting the object on top of your dick. Comparing something from the side, just like measuring from the side, adds about a inch.

I think bigger guys here can vouch for the fact that girls also overestimate size greatly. I've heard it in real life and seen it on here--"OMG HE WAS SO HUGE...HE MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE..10 INCHES!!1" when in reality the guy was probably an honest 8" (which is pretty huge anyway). Guys just go with the flow by hyping up their number 1-2" and girls just believe it. It all looks bigger from the girl's angle anyway.
I agree with you, but if people really want to "prove" their size, spend a little money and buy a think notebook ruler or a tape ruler (you could still see a dick 4.5 inches around with those). A measurement with a ruler, while it can still be argued (how hard are they pushing it in, are they hunching over to get the measurement), it is still the best way of getting the size of a dick.
