Hey Cri, where were you conservative, tea dumping motherfuckers when Bush borrowed and borrowed and borrowed to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Money we did not have. It did not create jobs, it certainly didn't make gas cheaper, and it certainly would not have stopped the Christmas day bomber from blowing up that plane had he succeeded.

Where were the cries of socialism when Bush used billions of taxpayer money to bail out Wall Street? I thought the free enterprise system was suppose to take care of itself without government interference, right? they sure readily took that government money didn't they? If it's to benefit rich white people, then it's OK. If it benefits the poor or minorities, then it's socialism.

Conservatives like to spend taxpayer's money alright, and to the trillions, so long as it doesn't threaten to change the socioeconomic status of the United States, in other words, so long as it doesn't benefit black folks.

I guess you weren't watching Fox News. They criticized Bush almost everyday, but let's quit talking about Politics and focus on what this thread and this part of this site is about.

The very handsome man running for Ted kennedys old senate seat posed nude in cosmopolitan in 82. Anyone have the pics? He is hot and the magazine suggested he has on heck of a stimulus package.

I saw it and was not impressed , he is sexy but ehhh !

Listening to the radio this morning, I learned that he's the Republican candidate, and liberals/progressives think think his plans and policies are old school Washington conservativism--exactly what the country does NOT need right now. Although I hadn't planned to vote in the upcoming election, I've realized how important it is that the Democrats retain control over the Senate seat formerly occupied by the late Ted Kennedy, so I will be voting against Scott Brown. (He probably shouldn't have called me.)

Good for you, glad you found out before it was too late but I wish you had known before getting the call from him. Make sure to get as many people as you can to go vote as well

How the fuck do you think we're in the mess? Progressives have been fucking up things since 1914. We need freedom and less government. Obama has sent us feet first into the next great depression.

Shaking my head, you just don't get it, the damage was done before he got into office. In order to get the big picture you need to step back a little and look at what needs to be done first. Would you build a house starting with the roof or begin building a strong foundation? Apparently Obama and elective officials are shoring up the foundation so when the house (Job market) will have true grounds to stand upon. Only time will tell!

hahahah REVISIONIST HISTORY exhibit 1 !
The intellgencia of the Economics world tend to think OBAMA SAVED us from another great depresion.

That is precisely what the OBAMA Admin are attempting to do, but the only thing they are NOT doing they need to is imposing more control on Wall Street so we don't have to clean up their dangerously speculative, greedy messes AGAIN !

Conservatives like to spend taxpayer's money alright, and to the trillions, so long as it doesn't threaten to change the socioeconomic status of the United States, in other words, so long as it doesn't benefit black folks.

If you replace that with anyone middle class and below this is more accurate. Used to be just the poor but not anymore, now they want to eradicate the middle class

I've never heard it put so succinctly...way to go, cookie! Wish the people that need to hear this would see it, but that's not likely.

I know the damage was done before he took office. I said he's sending us feet first into the next great depression. The recession is the cure. All Obama has done is prolonged the necessary adjustment was trillions of dollars of new spending and a flamboyant monetary policy.

No. When the business cycle goes into a down phase, then it is a recession and the system in general finds its level and then recovers.

What we are seeing now is not a bottoming out of the normal business cycle, rather the popping of an asset bubble. Until we get to your libertarian dream world where I can sue everyone who took risks that impacted upon my livelihood, then we are stuck with two basic policy options: 1) allow everyone to fail who would fail and 2) Keynesian stimulus.

(1) does not have political support outside those who practice the rituals of free market sharia, and (2) had been watered down by tax cuts that its already small size was further compromised. Those are the two tools, one is not feasible politically and one is just awful. Unless you can come up with a poltiically feasible alternative to a wave of bankruptcies that would wipe out 1/2 of businesses in the US after it found its level or Keynesian deficit spending, then you're going to need to go sit in the political corner and shut the fuck up.

BTW: Coakley is being given a run for her money not because of the tea baggers, rather because Obama has abandoned his progressive base and is proposing a health reform bill that is The Health Insurer and Pharma Corporate Welfare Act of 2010. If the health bill were single payer or had a strong public option, Coakley would not face headwinds.

Why is it when the GOP wins, progressives and liberals get screwed, and when the Democrats win, progressives and liberals get screwed?

because both parties suck! we need to do away with the bicramial (sp?) system all together, as well as the electoral college.

We need to go to the system of 'one person, one vote,' where the candidate is elected by popular vote.

We need to go to the system of 'one person, one vote,' where the candidate is elected by popular vote.

Only problem is that there are more states that benefit from the Senate/Electoral College system than are required to block any constitutional reform

Combine that with utter corruption amongst the two parties upper echelons, the places where the decisions get made, where government is used as a ladle to dollop tax dollars onto the contributors and patrons of the elected, and we've got a system that is crashing into the wall at speed and cannot do anything to stop it.

I'd hope that instead of playing ping pong with left against right, we'd realize that we're all being played against one another, that the real danger is both parties being in service to a financial "industry" that sucks capital from job producing deployment to speculative casino gambles. When the population has doubled and the number of middle class jobs fallen by 1/2 over 30 years, most of the population, liberal and conservative, who are neither fundamentalist free market nor government runs everything, have common cause to unite to take government away from these private interest and put government in the hands of citizens, the ones who are the sovereigns under our system.

Only when we get those who are manipulating us against one another for their gain away from the controls can we have an honest dialog about the role of government in business and the role of business in government.

I did not vote for Obama so that he could put folks like you in a position of being forced to buy crummy private health insurance at the risk of being fined by the government, on the path to indentured serfitude.

We Brits find the American opposition to Healthcare provision astounding. I watched a documentary on Obama's first year, and felt like we were a different species, not just a different nation.
