Sex in Jail

I'm curious about this.

I've never been in jail - but how much consensual sex goes on? I would think the other guys would go after a cellmates if they could hear them having sex, or the prison employees would get them in trouble.

I'm not really into this whole jail fetish, but I am curious about how this works. Anyone out there been in jail and who can explain this to me?

'Works' is not a good way of putting it. Sex in jail is prohibited and punishable if discovered. I have had incarcerated loved ones accused of sexual misconduct by guards simply out of belligerence, so that the inmate would be sent to 'the hole' (solitary confinement) for months.

Anything inmates do with one another will be furtive, and whether it is consensual or not will vary as much as it does among criminals who are not in jail.

I doubt there's much if any consensual sex in prison, though rape is common but not addressed by society for several reasons, including a despicable "get what they deserve" way we think of when considering those incarcerated and the whole "ick" factor all too many people get when discussing gay sexual interactions.

Oz was a parable about society and the meaning of life that was set in a prison that, however brutal, was still a cinematic idealization and not a direct reflection of anything in real life.

According to some previously incarcerated friends, Oz was way over the top - most of them said the writers got a lot of it right, and a lot of it was pure imagination.

Now here's a true story of prison sex,I'll skip all the details that I would need to provide to put it into context,basically had a penfriend from early high school,we lost contact for a number of years,eventually he got in contact with me and announced he was in prison in Mississippi,I travelled over from Australia to visit this guy,needless to say I was quite popular,I was offered sex which I had to pay off the guard and someone to watch out for the snitchers,I made 5 visits to that prison and it got to the stage where guys wanted me because of my accent,weird huh?
The Mississippi prison did not resemble OZ in any way,not even close,I'm sure the blocks where nasty people were would be different but I pretty much went where I pleased and mingled with anyone who wanted to chat,it seemed to me that there was this understanding amongst the inmates that their needs could be taken care of without having to resort to violence,thats the impression I got anyway,I asked my friend and some others about rape ect and they all replied that it doesn't happen in their unit,to be honest I felt quite safe and amongst friends if that makes any sense.

You will be lucky to get off with only a reamed ass. Any kid who is young and hung or has a cute ass might as well bend over as soon as they can when they get in to assure their existance.

This sounds like a very minimum security situation completely unlike the one my loved ones were in. Cameras and eyes are everywhere. Only systematic corruption of the administration would result in a prison like this.

Yes my inmate friend was in a trusty unit (low risk and low security area)the prison complex itself was huge,40 or 50 different units from low to high risk,entry to anything other than a trusty unit was by guard and escorts,I dare say the goings on in non trusty units would be less than desireable.
