Being gay has to do with sexual feelings, plain and simple. It has to do with a man's SEXUAL attraction to another man. I have emotional feelings towards my good guy friends but those aren't feelings of lust or desire. By the same token, you could take the meanest SOB who hates the world and everyone in it but if he wants to have sex with other men he's gay. Emotional feelings don't tell the whole story.

The difficulty, as you've noted, is that there is a wide range of orientations between being "straight" and "gay". If you have a penis and enjoy sucking or jerking off another guy's penis that's a gay activity. However. it's possible to enjoy that and enjoy women sexually as well.

The guys who think just because they like to get their dick sucked by a man every now and then and that doesn't make it gay are completely fooling themselves.

Nothing tickles me more than listening to a straight man pontificate on sexual orientation. Most straight men are so limited in their sexual experience and knowledge, they wouldn't know what "homosexual" was if it hit 'em upside the head.

There are all sorts of degrees of sexual orientation in humans, and they're not even static throughout one's life. Alfred Kinsey was the first Western scientist to study this in depth, and he created that famous (albeit outdated) "Kinsey Scale" to describe this. A perfect Kinsey 0 was 100% heterosexual in desire and deed. A perfect Kinsey 6 was 100% homosexual in desire and deed. Most men he studied fell somewhere in the middle.

However, a lot of the "I'm straight" or "I'm gay" stuff is about self-labeling and self-identification. If a man perceives himself as "straight," then it's not up to you and me to come along and tell him he's gay. A lot of men fall significantly on the heterosexual side of the scale, but also find themselves erotically interested in other men from time to time. Yet, these men live their lives as heterosexual men (having meaningful sexual relationships and/or marriages with women, fathering children, etc.), and identify as such.

If that's the case, then more power to them. As long as they're not hurting anyone (as they often are when they do the "down low" thing), no one should judge them.

But straight kids often do. It's a very common part of adolescence. If you don't think any of your friends were doing it at age 11 or 12 then you're naive. I've even had very hetero guys admit to me they messed around once or twice at that age.
