So, what is a slut? A recent thread brought this question to mind. http://www.lpsg.org/298591-studs-and-players.html

First, I assumed that if a woman liked sex and she was safe, and mature enough to enjoy it, that we'd moved beyond this archaic and antiquated double standard of men being studs if they get laid often, and women being sluts if they get laid often. Sadly, that wasn't the case in the above thread. (I haven't read that thread since yesterday, so maybe new voices chimed in)

What, in your opinion, is a slut. And why do you feel this way.

Someone who has easy access to sex and takes it more often than not. Male or female.

How many times are we talking? If we're defining things, give us some numbers.

Slut no longer has the same negative connotation that it once did. Whore is a much more negative word.

    Sometimes slutty can be nice.

Clearly you haven't checked out that thread. Others are literally at this very moment decrying how terrible sluts are.

Wow. You were right. That is just wrong.

I don't live in that world. I prefer women who are mature, funny, witty, intelligent, flirty, and just a little bit slutty.

I don't know who those guys are on that other thread.

Neither do I! They keep insisting that they're describing the world as they know it, but I swear that I must live on entirely different plane of existence.

Not only that, the guys I know who are the most popular with women are all male feminists. My friends kick their friends' asses. :yup:

The first time this was discussed on the board, I think the conclusion was that a slut is a woman with the morals of a man.

Or how about, a slut is a woman who sleeps with other guys but won't sleep with you.

I think the term generally says more about the person using it rather than the person it is aimed at.

I've never understood why guys perpetuate the use of slut, whore, skank, etc. If there weren't such a stigma associated with women who enjoy and are open about sex then we'd all probably be getting laid more often. These fools are just hurting their own sex lives but too stupid to realize it.

Completely agree. Enjoying recreational sex has not been a moral issue in my life.

The latest thread pretty much illustrates the point I was trying to make regarding why I cannot see the term in a positive light.

Although I am happy for those who have been able to reclaim the word for themselves so that it doesn't bring to mind the negative emotions I feel right now.

Personally, I don't care about numbers. That's just math and I've always hated math. I said it in the other thread and I'll say it here - everyone either has or doesn't have periods of promiscuity in their life. If they do, they may have it for a variety of reasons. Big deal. When I meet someone I care about, they come to me with exactly the right amount of lovers in their past - zero or a thousand, it doesn't matter.

My ex and I used to use the term slut or slutty to describe how we were with each other sometime. It wasn't derogatory, but a fun term to describe being completely uninhibited with each other - fun, sexual, crazy, open, adventurous. Like giving head in the parking lot at work or dry humping in the elevator. It was like a little code to text each other. To me it was kind of like reclaiming that word and taking some of the old sting from it. Years ago that word was used to hurt me - with him it was used to arouse, tickle and elevate me.

Honestly i have no idea what a slut is these days. Its used "positively" in so much porn and in so many female movements the only thing i can come up with to coin is...i have no freakin clue lol. What i do know though is that a woman that really likes sex is normal, a woman that likes sex with different types of men is normal. A woman that lies cheats and is all around not good in that way is a woman i'm not going anywhere near with a ten foot pole.

This is of course in the relationship sense. If i weren't straight these rules would apply to dudes too.

Well not literally everybody, or else no one is a slut. It's not possible to fuck everybody.
