"triple threat" advice and support?

So, as off last night I made the decision to start changing my life, and I want to be a completely different person my 25th birthday next year.

So, I figured if I'm gonna start something I might as well go balls to the wall and kick 2 big things and challenge my self to a third, the 2 being soda and cigarettes, and the challenge being not masturbating.

Things you should know, I'm 6'3 and about 400 pounds, spread fairly evenly.
I drink to much soda, and smoke far to much for a guy my age. So I'm just looking for advice on how some of you may have kick these couple of things and if anyone would object to this being almost like a live journal, you know for some form of support.

Isn't a "triple threat" someone who can act, dance, and sing?

I'm a little confused as to how it applies in this context.

Bravo to you for making a lifestyle change. It's going to be a challenge but recognizing you need to change things is the first BIG and POSITIVE step.

In college I was up to 2 packs a day. No kidding. Then one day I realized that I didn't even like the way cigarettes tasted, the way they made ALL my clothes and breath smell, they way they yellowed my nails, and how much money I was spending on a habit THAT WAS KILLING ME! (This was 30 years ago, too) So I simply said, "That's it. I'm done." and literally quit cold turkey. Because I had put my mind to it I had NO problem quitting. All the withdrawal nonsense is in your head. Pick a reason why you want to stop smoking - something meaningful to you - and every time you think you want a smoke just remind yourself of your reason for quitting. They do say that smoking is also largely manual, so keep a pencil handy. Better yet, to help you with both your goals have a celery stick handy. You find that in no time the "cravings" (a term coined by the cigarette companies) will go away and you will be smoke free. Wash everything and clean your house/apartment/dorm room so you aren't reminded of the smell - and when you enter back into your home congratulate yourself for the great smell and clean surroundings.

The soda thing was the same way. I just decided one day not to drink it. I switched to flavored seltzers. Your body's initial reaction will be to throw headaches at you. That is due to the lack of caffeine and sugar, but don't let that put you off your goal. Your dietary change is more difficult and may require seeking professional help. If you have a GP, tell him/her your goals and ask what they can do to help: refer you to a dietician, get you into a weight loss program, etc. Get rid of all the crap in your house including the fridge and freezer (the dietician will sometimes come to your house to help), the cabinets and cupboards. I have a problem with my weight too and I have found it is all about making better choices. That doesn't mean you can't have some chips, just not a whole bag. Instead of nachos, why not whole grain chips and salsa? If you read food labels, you will be shocked at the amount of fat, sodium and sugar are in many foods. That's where a dietician can help.

Well so far I've only wanted to stab 3 people because I didn't have a cigarette, and I've actually switched to a decaf I've tea that I found, its unsweetened as well, so the soda part is going far better than the cigg one lol

Well as the term is in quotations it kind of implies that I'm A) using the term wrong or B) couldn't think of a better expletive term

Good for you for trying to improve your health and lifestyle. I see no reason what so ever to give up masturbation though. That simply seems like an exercise in willpower that could be better used for improving your diet and exercise program. Nothing to gain by giving it up.

Good for you! It is not easy, but worthwhile things never are. I would not give up the masturbation unless it is really hurting you socially in some way. Maybe cut back if this involves a porn habit you are unhappy with, but masturbation can be a stress reliever as well as a reward to your self that involves no calories.

You're on the right track with the cigarettes and sodas. Give up ALL sodas - diet soda is bad for your body too in almost the same ways sugared drinks are. Next step - eliminate added salt. It plays havoc with kidneys and can cause you to retain fluids. If you like to snack first reduce portion sizes then limit snack days with a goal of eliminating them altogether. Do it slowly so you can learn the habit of not snacking.

Most important - talk to your doctor about all of this. Let him do some tests - blood work, thyroid , cholesterol, etc - and diabetes. It has amazed me how many fit friends I have who have that problem. Being large you may have a pre-diabetes condition you don't know about. That also affects weight gain and loss. so if you don't already know, find out.

well, I've never been overweight in fat, or been addicted to cigarettes, but I have lowered my soda drinking dramatically as an active choice since my senior years in highschool. The best way to handle that is substitution. Just actively have milk or water instead.

the way the phrase "triple threat" has shifted over the years mostly means that the person being described has 3 major desirable traits. I strongly urge you to think of weaning yourself off of how much you are smoking/masturbating, but not to "give up" on masturbating. It's actually important for a male's sexual health and prostate that he masterbates 3~4 times a week, to be sure things are working properly (think of it like a "maintenance check").

good luck in your goals, though learning to dance, sing and act would be impressive too :p

6'3, ~400 lbs, .... gonna assume a thick and average size.....

Aim for the point where your belly and shaft head are bulging about the same size. I believe that would improve your mood on your aesthetic.
And for the record: Change is hard, whether its becoming a big sexy person or a ripped sexy person (these don't always mean the same thing)
