8 tips of Distance Learning Life Hacks: The Best Parenting Experience

Do "remote control" where it is convenient

Take advantage of the benefits and your child will enjoy the activities at home. The most obvious thing: with a tablet, you can go through the material and do lessons in the park, and on the banks of the river, and on the balcony, and in the country. Someone can display a training video on the ceiling through a projector. You can do it while lying down, standing and even in motion (say, jumping in one place or squatting). This is much better than sitting at a table for half a day. To prevent children from suffering from an excess of unused energy, "shift" several school assignments into the format of an outdoor game. For example, if you need to find synonyms and antonyms, we write them for different words in several options on separate sheets of paper, and we spread them throughout the apartment. We take out the watch: "How many minutes will you find the right answer?" It happens that children cannot cope with this task, then help them. Help them. There is a coursework writing service that can help a child know more synonyms and antonyms. This resource develops creative thinking in a child.

... when and how convenient
According to biorhythms, owls do not have to get up early. And for all children, instead of a school day with 5 lessons, it is better to do two or three educational blocks in the day's schedule. After all, spending time continuously with gadgets is harmful. We had 3-5 lessons every day - at the same time as usual. This also has huge advantages for parents: there was no need to spend a lot of time, because the teachers themselves explained the material, answered questions, and encouraged. There was even aikido, art and work in the Internet format, which students really like. But the tasks that the children had to do with their parents (watch an additional video, draw, write a copybook), we did in the evening, at about 18:00. It turned out that it was easier for our little owl.

Motivate by learning your future profession

Of course, elementary school is not the age when they finally decide on their future profession. But children are usually much more motivated to learn a profession that they like now. Let it be a firefighter, detective, or biotechnologist. Then school subjects can be linked to additional education. Yulia studies at the Small Computer Academy "Step", where children take a test drive of professions in the IT industry. They create their own games and LEGO robots. Last year, there were difficulties in establishing distance learning for professional programs, because they are not so easy to transfer to virtual. But this year they are already launching an online school. With online resources you can learn with ease. With the help of an essay outline, you can improve your writing skills. This will serve as a good motivation for the future.

Allocate a workspace
One of the problems with homeschooling is that there are many distractions nearby. The bed, even if it doesn't feel like lying around, dampens. Toys and books. A cuisine with delicious flavors. Perhaps a cat or a dog running alongside. Therefore, if the child is engaged at home, the work area should be emphasized as never before. Of course, you can't create an office for a child. But you can fence off part of the room with curtains, a screen, a stand with flowers, or at least a rug or puzzle mats of a different color. It may be that a child goes to the room of his older brother or sister to study for a couple of hours when he does not interfere with them.

Teach your child to learn

You can make a soft transition to classes if you start not with school assignments or video lessons, but with games for concentration and memory (there are many of them on the Internet).

If there is a training video, you can suddenly stop while watching and ask to answer questions about the material that was just told. But this should not look like an interrogation, but like a quiz with a prize in the form of, for example, sweets or some pleasant trifle.

The school was taught to "write down the main points" of the video, that is, to draw what he saw with fictional symbols. And even make mind maps based on what you see!

Take care of convenient parental controls

Our school quickly switched to telecommuting as soon as quarantine was announced, and this allowed us to complete the entire program without losing the level of knowledge provided. They immediately introduced tests online, handed out a package of educational materials to each child, and when the quarantine dragged on, they even donated (sent by mail) everything they needed to practice art and labor. Pupils took online tests, watched videos. That is, they had to work online. This is great, but here children have their own temptations - they want to play games, look at young bloggers, go to social networks. We'll have to use parental controls. It is better to choose not one that simply forms blacklists, but a multifunctional one.

Make lessons fun

Of course, we focus on assignments from school. But if you add to them a surprise from the parents, a kind of zest, the child will be much more willing to study. If there is no video content from the school, the material can sometimes be given with emphasized emotion, in different voices. No artistic data required - don't be afraid to overdo it: it's even more fun. You can read the text on reading in funny voices, or even the conditions of the problem. But do not do this too often, so as not to distract from the essence of the task.

If the language task is to find errors in the text, you can not just print it out, but divide it into two parts - the “dictation” of mom and dad (sister, brother, grandmother) or the heroes of the Forest School from Nestayko's books. Have the child correct mistakes and give a grade, while the adults or “fairy tale characters” get excited and demand an explanation. And also, for example, we let our daughter compare two training videos as a jury and choose the best one. You can add some of the popular children's challenges to the lessons.

Take breaks

In primary school, especially in grades 1-2, distance learning requires the constant presence of parents. And in quarantine you want to be distracted or work requires at least a few hours of "neutralizing" the child. Online joint singing of karaoke, elementary dances, physical exercises as elements of some kind of sport, creation of simple homemade products can be well held near the screens. But this should not be a video, but an adult who, through Zoom, Skype, Google Classroom, asks something again, addresses by name, answers questions. Who could it be? You can pay hourly online babysitters - these appeared last year. And you can cooperate with the parents of classmates or your friends, who have children with a difference of no more than 5 years. And take turns "on duty" with all the children (what exactly to give - the Internet will tell you, where there are a lot of ideas),
