Acclimating to Autumn

Well today is the first day since sometime in May I have put on socks. I hate hosiery. :yuck:

I knew fall was coming, it's not a surprise. I've seen the pumpkins in the stores and kitschy Halloween decorations for over a month now. Heck, some stores even have Christmas displays up already! :yikes: I think thre should be a law against that stuff being up prior to Thanksgiving but that is a rant for another day.

I've watched the weathermen talk about frost warnings over the last 48 hours and it didn't quite register until this morning. I checked the outdoor temp and it said 40. Forty degrees fahrenheit at 9:40 AM this morning. That's frigging cold for Georgia! It's going to get warmer today, should reach about 62, but for now it's rather brisk.

I think I'll bundle up and sip my coffee on the back deck. I like to watch the birds and I have even come to appreciate the intermittent staccato of the gun range which is 2.5 miles away.

I am not looking forward to the holidays this year. Christmas has become slightly depressing for me all together, I will be glad when the holidays are over.

Well come visit me for the holidays OY we'll be miserable together!
I kid! I adore the autumn, the brisk winds, the trees turning and wanting hot foods again! Though I' will not be happy to put on "winter weight again this year. Humph.

I've always loved Fall. The air is so crisp and clean. And the sky is a gorgeous blue because the haze and humidity of Summer are gone. I love a perfect blue sky. And being in Texas now, I love the Fall even more -- no more 100 degree days, and we are in the migratory pathway so we get lots of Monarch butterflies and hummingbirds. We have them all year but in the Fall the population goes way up as they head South. I've brought the orchids in because they don't like it below 55 degrees and we were down to 53 a couple nights ago.

It is so great to go for walks in the Fall. And best of all, the house gets a little chilly and you slide under those cozy covers with someone and it's so nice and......hot.

CigarBabe as much as I hate being cold I have to admit I miss autumn and winter in New England. The 4 years I lived in Massachusetts were incredibly stressful and hectic due to my work. However, when I could relax and just have me time it was wonderful. Great scenery and people.
