BeBackSoon -Eminent Failure Dead Ahead!

Eminent Hard Disk Drive Failure

Need to figure out what the hell I'm gonna do since I've only had this laptop for less than 2yrs. And naturally out of warranty. Without a computer what will I do with my time, besides working 50-70hrs a week, which seems to have died down a little. All the Kindle/Nook/ and techie PDF books I've downloaded are on the puter too. All my music, movies, videos, pix (oh yeah and there is a smattering of p0rn in there too). Hopefully the HDD will last long enough for me to get all the info I need off of it, though i'm kind of doubtful about it, right now it takes 2 or 3 tries just to boot up. Damn error messages! I want a Solid State Drive that won't fail like an ordinary HDD.

So a new HDD for $100 or so or a new spiffier computer for $600 or so... :33:

Whatever will we do wifout our Turkster! :(

Which is the lesser of two evils at the moment? HDD or computer..

the questions: can you afford the new spiffier computer? and/or can you do a nutty at the company that made computer? shouldn't have a problem if it's only 2 yrs old.

Let me know if you need my help.
I do data recovery if the drive isn't too damaged, and may be able to fix your laptop for you.

And stay away from Toshiba and HP laptops. They are absolute crap. All I get across my bench are dead HP laptops with a laundry list of recall programs.

Toshiba's have limited support as well.

If you opt to get a replacement drive, steer clear of the 250gb drives. They are very failure prone.
Go 320gb or larger

If you have the cash, go for the new 'puter.
If you don't ... then go for the new HDD, now.

At least you have the best kind of HDD failure ... the eminent kind.
I figure mine is imminent.

I just three words for you. Backup, backup and backup. Regularly. There are two types of hard drives - those who have crashed and those who are going to crash. Every time you attempt to boot the drive, you are causing more damage. There are techniques for extracting data from crashed hard drives but booting from it is not one of them.
