Breeder Boys

My thoughts today on the future.

In some segments of society we have countries that limit the number of offspring that a couple can have.

This may appear to be a reasonable approach to the overpopulation of the World, but there are serious considerations.

Recent tragic events in China have now caused the government to give waivers to couples who lost their one and only child.

I consider the limiting the number of offspring as excessive government.

There are also those who may point out that too many children may also be a problem.

As for myself, I was raised in a large family and we all enjoyed each other's company.

We were all loved and cared for by our parents. We all also knew that we could not be self-centered. We grew up to be independent, yet loving individuals. Some of my Siblings have large families and others have just two children.

Does this cause any problems?

I would submit a No as a reply.

One of the concepts that my own dear Dad taught me was if you father children you have to do your best to raise good citizens who will hopefully be responsible and caring.

I have been well blessed. I have two children from each of two marriages. All four, two boys and two girls appear to me as being well respected adults in their respective communities.

I may be old fashioned, and also viewed as a prude, but I sincerely believe that if all males are responsible their will be no over population problems.

How many men outside of your own family are responsible about
making babies with women theyv'e just met?
I'm not sure that others are responsible as you have been.
I do hate the government telling us we can't smoke anymore so I hate any interference from them.

Goverment wouldn't have to interfere if more people had common sense. My freind the world has a limited amout of resources. Unfortunately we don't have any predators so our poulation has exploded. The real problem is that less educated people tend to have more kids. You widen the gap between those who have and those who haven't. and taxing is not going to solve the problem.

As far as smoking goes. I'm thrilled that it's become socially unacceptable. I used to smoke. not that much mabey four or five cigarettes a day. I wish I never started. Money pissed away. At least weed doese something for you. I can't think of any experiance that is enhanced by having a cigarette. Should goverment regulate it? They probably don't need to. Although I think states that have banned it at restaurants bars etc did the right thing. It hasn't hurt business and it's nice to not wake up the next day haveing your clothes absolutely reak.

My advice to those who want to quit is to put yourself in a new enviornment if you can. Your habbit thrives in familiar places. I had to travel for about 6 months for work. You can't smoke in a hotel and in the area I was at you couldn't smoke at bars. To me they used to go hand in hand. by the fourth month I was cured. Now the smell irrates me. The hard part is getting to that point though.

It's sort of like being overweight. It took years to get that way and it will take a hell of a long term effort to lose it. I guarantee though if we could wave a magic wand and intantly transform ourselves. I'm willing to bet that no one would ask to go back to the way they were whatever the vice. So if the government steps in to give a helping hand whether it be banning smoking or trans fats you may grumble but in the end you'll be better off. I guess that goes for over population too.

As an only child, I tell all my friends that they need to have at least two kids. The reason being, you want two people argueing about what nursing home to put you in should that time come. :biggrin1: I'm not joking, think about it.

Back to your original point. It's not just a mans responsibility but a womans to rear decent citizens who contribute to, rather than feed off the community.

There are just as many pathetic, deadbeat moms out there as dads these days. :12: Sometimes I think there should be some sort of test given before parents can leave the hospital with a newborn.

There's always the bird flu, SARS, H5N1 (?), and a 1918 style flu epidemic that could thin the herd, a bit.

Then there's war.

Dontchya just know there is some statician or actuary somewhere who has figured out how fewer American babies will be born because the 3 or 4 thousand American servicemen have been killed?

We tried eugenics at the turn of the last century.

One society took that idea and ran with that.

Anywhoo... I digress... I'm ranting here... sorry...

Yes, it would be grand if every biological father was a good dad.

Maybe when our government stops paying teenage girls to push out babies will be on our way to a good start.

I'm torn here...I am a "creationist" let's say, so one on hand I don't subscribe to the belief that we just breed, as animals do.

But on the other hand, you see children "born to die" basically in places like Africa (starvation, AIDS, etc.), and this makes a perfect argument for just what I said above - that women are simply bred, just as are females of any other species.

I'm quite sure, that with our country's high number of abortions, this is proof enough of this as well.

And if that's the case, then yes, both parties (why are men always the one responsible), desperately need to take more measures to prevent an unwanting "breeding".

Every child would ideally be conceived in the bounds of marriage, or at minimum a truly committed couple that is going to be in it for the long run.

And the blogger is worried that he's old fashioned :D

I do agree though...as little gov't interference as possible is always good. Sad that the people of China can't enjoy families just as we can.
