Circumcision - Extreme body modification

I hear a lot of people who talk about piercings, tattoos, etc... with disgust, and i wonder why... the first thing we do to new born baby boys is put them through one of the most strange and unneeded body modification procedures in the world... the circumcision. I've heard all the reasons... "it may get infected." Yes, so might his ears, why don't you have them removed? "I want him to look like his Daddy." Why, are you going to be fucking him?" "He may get laughed at in school gym class." Not if everybody stops lopping off plieces of their children he wont. And, not when women discover how much better sex with an uncut penis can be. Once while talking to a female pediatrician and shooting down one argument she had after another, she finally got to the heart of the matter... "Well, it just looks prettier to me." Ah yes... it has finally come to this we've performed this barbaric ritual for so long, it's just a cultural norm. So much so, that you can hardly get out of a hospital without them chasing you down with a pair of forceps and a scalpel. Just try this... inquire into having your baby girl circumcised.... you wont get out of the hospital because the police will be waiting at the door to take you away. I'm in no way comparing the brutal ritual of female circumcision to that of males, but the reasons for them are all very similar and the law about them should be too. No matter what your view of when life starts is, it certainly has started at the very latest, at birth. One of those rights should certainly be to not have parts of their body lopped off due to cultural whim. If after becoming an adult you wish to have it removed, go for it. But no body else should be able to make that choice for you.

People on here say they're sick of hearing from anti-circumcisionists, they should get used to it, until people stop this barbaric invasion of another person's body people are going to carry on telling them to stop. In the constitutions of many countries (including the USA) one of the foremost mandates is that people have a right to integrity of their body, circumcision is a direct contravention of this. Those who are circumcised defend it angrily, shouting that it's ridiculous to think that something that happened so many years ago can affect them in any way - if a baby can be physically abused and affected by that then it can be affected by circumcision in exactly the same way. Right off the bat the people he should be able to trust to nurture and protect him have had part of his body cut off.
We don't own our children, we don't have the right to modify them to fit in with our ideas of what is cosmetically acceptable.
Shut up about circumcision we're told, I wonder if these people would have shouted shut up to slave abolitionists, to the people who wanted to end foot binding in China, to those who wanted to end the custom of Sati.
The medical profession go to ridiculous ends to justify circumcision, they don't want to see one of their big cash cows dry up.
There's only one person who has the right to make a choice about whether or not they will be circumcised - an adult man.

"There's only one person who has the right to make a choice about whether or not they will be circumcised - an adult man."
And I can't see many of them queuing up to stick their old chap near a knife!
From what I understand, circumcision is far rarer on this side of the pond (Europe). There were some stories from the first gulf war where British airmen who were shot down were made to strip. They got rather worried about what was going to happen to them, but it was just the Arabs seeing if they had caught any Jews.
So if you're planning on getting caught by the Arabs (sounds like a Euphemism!), best hope your parents left you intact!

Thanks Scottredletter and Spoiled Princess.

I have often wondered why the USA which prides itself on being 'the land of the free' still denies the freedom of choice in this matter to its male citizens, imposing a largely unnecessary surgery on them as infants before they can exercise choice themselves. It had never occurred to me before that money is one of the motivations.

In the UK most doctors operate within the state-funded health service (NHS). As such they do not get paid per procedure and are unlikely to clog up the system with unneccessary operations. With no 'cash cow' driving the issue, circumcision except for Jews and Muslims is rare. The following quotes are taken from the website of NHS Scotland:

>>Only around one in every 100 men need a circumcision for medical reasons but, in the UK, the number of circumcisions carried out is roughly six times higher than this. Circumcision is often carried out for religious reasons.

>>It is not routinely performed in the UK because there is no clear clinical evidence to suggest that it is has any medical benefit.

>>For medical reasons circumcision is only performed as a last resort. Many doctors and specialists disagree about whether circumcision should be carried out at all.

Right on, Scott and all you other Intactivist posters...!!! Circumutilation of infants (RIC) is an unspeakably barbarous practice that should be outlawed, punishable with severe penalties, in all civilized societies. --(Where does that leave the United States...???)

We must continue to speak up--to shout, when necessary--and protest against the brutal torture and mutilation of helpless babies, against the criminal theft of their most basic human right to their complete bodies!

It always amazes me for being classified a 'radical' for want to outlaw cutting pieces off of babies... LOL. Thanks for the posts...

African Charter on Human and People's Rights
Article 4
Human beings are inviolable. Every human being shall be entitled to respect for his life and the integrity of his person. No one may be arbitrarily deprived of this right.

German Constitution
Everyone has the right to life and to inviolability of his person.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Article 3.

  • Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.
I could go on with quote after quote. I dont know how the fuckers get away with it.

Don't flame me on this, but I seriously don't know whats wrong with circumcision. I mean - where you quoted "He may get laughed at in school gym class", who would say something like that? Who cares if someone has no foreskin, it's not funny at all. People overreact over unnecessary things and I'm not saying this is unnecessary but people are just being defensive for something that is somewhat to be considered 'normal' in society today.

This is viewed with all body piercings and tatto's, etc...
We don't live in a utopian world that EVERYONE must have a foreskin or else they don't deserve to have manlihood blah blah blah.

I'm not suggesting everybody has to do anything. I'm suggesting that its up to the individual. You don't tattoo your babies, they decide to do that on their own later... it should be the same for circumcision. Have your cock split in two length wise if you want to... I just think it should be your own decision , not anyone else... including your parents.

If you don't know what's physically wrong and severely injurious about circumutilation, then you might want to inform yourself. There are plenty of Internet sites that will explain it in detail for you.

"He may get laughed at...": You're quite correct--there's nothing funny about having had one's foreskin brutally cut off. But the reference is to the foreskins of intact males. "Who would say something like that?" Apologists for circumutilation (circfetishists) say it constantly as one of their ignorant, bloody stupid arguments for continuing RIC (routine infant torture and mutilation). Think about that fucked-up logic for a moment: If no more male infants were ever raped of their foreskins, then......

Yes, some "people overreact over unnecessary things." And those excessive overreactions are on the part of circfetishists, the sadistic cryptoperverts who want to continue the UNNECESSARY and criminal mutilation of infants. And many of the victims of penile rape are themselves in denial, "just being defensive for something...considered 'normal' in society today." You're referring, of course, to circumutilation-mad American society, which has been propagandized into thinking that mutilation is "normal." Think about that logic: Suppose that cutting the ears or noses off of all newborns were the custom--would you accept that as "normal," too...???

"EVERYONE must have a foreskin or else [not deserve] manhood"?!?!? Who in the world has said that, other than you??? Reread Scott's immediately preceding post, as well as the others in this Blog. --Intactivists are saying that EVERY MAN SHOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP THE FORESKIN HE WAS BORN WITH--unless he himself, as an informed adult, chooses otherwise.
