Cloverfield Redux: Multiple Sightings of Case Designate Cloverfield

(Tiny spoil alert)

I saw it again today, and I'm certain I didn't miss anything, and it’s actually better the second time around, although there isn’t as much suspense, it is somehow better, maybe it’s because I wasn’t so focused on what the monster was, and where it came from and wanting answers to my questions. I did sit through the credits this time, which seemed to take forever for the little bit of speech at the very end, it was ok, I think I could have lived without it, but since it sounded like “help us,” it leaves open the possibility for a sequel, which seems like a horrible idea. Something I did realize, that good old cliché of the black person dies first falls flat in this, she is actually the only survivor from their group. As soon as the credits start to roll some guy a few rows back says "Blair Witch," hilarious. I got in for free (but not really) because I used my re-admission pass from going to see 300 digital and the projector broke (I have another pass because the same thing happened the second time I went.) If you can manage going to the theater during the day you can basically have the entire room to yourself, it's insane, but the same doesn't hold for the art theater.

About that hidden message, I checked around online, and supposedly played backwards it says, "it's still alive", so I found a clip played forward and downloaded it, and used audacity to play it backwards, and it really does, it's freaky, yes the audio is choppy, but played back and forwards they sound nothing alike, it's kind of cool, but really creepy. I can't post it as an attachment, but you can hear it here http://cloverfieldmessage.ytmnd.com/ (and of course if you're like me and need to prove it for yourself you can download it with download helper in firefox and see for yourself, it's awesome) or send a p.m.

i watched it last night (on the internet though, as it's not out in england for another 2 shitty weeks. I know that i didn't get the full effect of cinema, but i was disappointed with how short it was. and, being the picky person that I am, i noticed that the intro text says that data was taken from an SD card. Yet throughout the film, the characters watched the vid themselves and we saw cuts from the original film of Rob and that other gal. if it was an SD card, it would overwrite old files in parts as it did, you would simply create a new file when you start recording. AND, Rob nicked a cell phone battery from a shop and put it in his phone - how many batteries come readily charged from the store?? I know, I'm complaining about silly things. It's still a pretty decent movie, but I would actually appreciate a sequal - though not with the same characters.

Those things aren't silly, I noticed them as well the first time, esp the cell phone battery which a major part of the story is based upon, I've never purchased a fully charged cell phone battery, but then again a monster has never attacked my city, maybe when that happens they will come fully charged.

Whoa! That clip was cool...but I mean, who was gonna have the ability to rewind a soundbite that may or may not have been heard at the end of the credits?

I think J.J. shouldn't go so hardcore with the secret evidence anymore.

P.S. have you checked out 1-18-08.com?

Thanks for the 1-18-08.com, I completely forgot about that site and I don't remember any of those pictures. Now I wish I spoke Japanese or Chinese (I'm not sure what the characters are), and those photos make me think a sequel may be coming. The issue of secrecy in the movie is interesting, who would have thought to play that backwards, I didn't think anything of it until I searched for this "hidden message," which is what I thought I experienced, but really didn't, it's J.J. Abrams so even the hidden messages have hidden messages, awesome.
