Colverfield

I went and saw it today, it delivered the action it promised. I was late and the only seats were really close to the screen, I usually like to be close, but when a movie is shot all by handheld, with lots of running and explosions, there is a lot of shaking, I can ride roller coasters and be fine, but sitting close to the screen in a shaky movie, messes me up. So anyway, more to the point, I watched it, and for the most part it was okay, but I feel like I missed something. I mean, they never go into detail about the creature (which is really ugly) or anything, so I know I didn't miss that, but when the end came, I was like wtf. It was actually pretty funny, about seven other people said the same thing at the same time once the credits started. I'm confused, completely confused, I'm not even sure how to respond to it. On one hand I liked it but on the other it wasn't that great, not bad, just not that good, and yet for some reason I want to go see it again, and I will (on half price tuesday.) I guess I like it as I'm willing to go see it again.

Went myself the other night and have to say, I was really pissed off by the 'shakey cam' crap. I didn't get sick, just very fucking annoyed that the whole thing was shot this way.

I really wanted to see a few more real good shots of the creature, etc, but wasn
't gonna happen because of the 'vision' of the director.

The fact that we never really know where the creature came from, etc didn't bother me. I like getting thrown into a story and just try to figure it out. Is much more like real life...

But unlike you, I am NOT gonna go see this again, or buy it when in comes out on the eventual dvd/blueray/directors cut/ ultimate cut/musical version! LOL

HAHA, musical version? I'm SO there.

I think I'll probably wait until it's out on DVD and then rent it. It doesn't look all that great. The only reason I wanted to see it was because I didn't even know what was attacking the creature.

It could have been aliens, a big storm, godzilla, etc... But now I know it was just some random creature from some random place.

I'll pass for now.

It was utter shit. Complete and utter shite. A movie that was unispired the studio were forced into creative advertising to give it some air of mystery.

Actually it is a fresh take on the traditional monster movie, it was supposed to be a shaky cam (it's a governmental evidence tape) and not include huge money shots of the monster (Godzilla and King Kong were HUGE bombs at the box office). It's all about realism and putting the viewer smack dab in the middle of the action, it's also about what you don't see that makes this movie quite revolutionary.

You guys will have to admit that the monster and it's parasites are VERY original and VERY scary... how about Marlena exploding from her parasite bite... wasn't that cool as shit?

I loved the fact that everybody died... Did you guys catch the monster entering the ocean with a huge splash at the end of the tape? And did y'all wait until after the credits for the little message? That was cool as SHIT... I LOVED THIS MOVIE (of course, I sat in the back of the theater)

When I go back I'll definitely wait for the credits to roll through. Marlena's explosion was seriously messed up, I was staring all slack-jawed and amazed.

I got that it was supposed to be 'found evidence', hence the shakey cam...just didn't like to watch a whole movie of it. Glad some people loved it.
