Death of a Beloved Friend

You served me well for 2.5 years. You provided me with hours of enjoyment and lots of fun. What I learned from you will never be forgotten. You didn't cost me much either. I figure you only cost me about 80 bux, you were part of a package deal. You were giving me warning signs for months that something was wrong, but I failed to take heed. You would start to get overheated and make noise at me. When I woke up from a nap yesterday you were gone. I tried to resuscitate you to no avail. I even shocked you and it didn't work. I proclaimed you DEAD and now I'll have to put you to final rest.
:frown:
Such is life.

I woke up and my computer wasn't on and the power strip and the power button did nothing when I pressed them.
I SOOO didn't need my computer to die on me! :frown:

So I did what normal people do. Go rent a laptop from walmart. How do you rent from walmart? Uhm buy an electronic device and then return it before the return period is over.
I'm Soooo :wt: at the moment.

What is really sad is that my old computer had a higher Windows Experience Score than this laptop does even though this computer is brand new, cost more, AND has a faster processor.

How the fuck do you laptop using people do it? It's driving me crazy trying to use the trackpad!!

So I have 2 weeks to find a computer I actually want.

Comments

I'm sorry for your loss :frown:

And yeah to the above - get the USB mouse off your old PC and plug it in to the laptop... before you end up picking up the laptop and flinging through the nearest window. HATE trackpads!!

I hate trackpads on laptops.

I recommend that any laptop user get a small desk fan, cooling mat (these will keep your laptop cool and not heat up too much), extra USB hub units, USB keyboard and USB mouse.

Thats crap... Today I went for a shower and when I came back my screen said "reboot or insert boot device and press any key".

For whatever reason it restarted while I wasn't there and now the hard drives aren't even there in the system thing when the computers starting. I am hoping as I have two and neither show up that I still have all my files and its just a connection issue. I need to look when I get home but have a laptop and own my machine at work so as long as I have my files I don't mind if the machine itself has died.

*fingers crossed*

It's kinda like other things, the more you practice, the better you'll get :biggrin1:

Need some help "practicing"? :naughty:

Thanks for the comments and advise.

I have a USB mouse  the keyboard really isn't that bad. MB I think you're right I would want to chuck it out the window if I had to use a touchpad.

I might want to get one of those cooling pads invisi, it does get quite warm.

I've always wanted a laptop so I wouldn't be constrained to one room. Sometimes it would be nice to watch tv and look up the stuff that I'm watching. Or just some of the random games during commercials or stuff. I do random stuff that doesn't require much attn so would be nice to be in another room and doing something else. Also laptops are more energy efficient.

Good luck with your puter probs xemnasfury21!

I need a lot of help practicing. I'll need some help Countryguy. :fing02:

O I will SP:biggrin: I have the pix etc still just have to recover the hard drive stuff.

And I have the sticky keyboard.

Awwwwwwww, poor Mr laptop :(

And I use a laptop to talk to everyone on here, with just the trackpad because I carry mine from room to room. It's a toshiba and I love love it! However I do work on a normal desktop pc all day, I just keep my laptop up to hang with friends. Goodluck on finding a new computer.

The same thing happened to my computer. It was the power source. I had it replaced for not a lot of money (can't remember how much as I had a few other things done at the same time) It's now as good as new.

Someone posted something a little too personal for my liking in a previous posting so I went to moderating.

Well I might have to look into the powersupply but the fan has been noisy for quite some time so I'm thinking the fan went out and burnt out the processor. Then again there was a power blip :33: Might have to look into the power supply unit. They are fairly cheap.

When you replace your desktop to to your local best buy and make yourself really happy, go with a Mac. You can get an iMac that is as powerful as most PC's now at a reasonable cost and the largest of the iMac's make the Mac Pro's a not so great deal. It will take some getting used to, but you won't regret it. I am still changing over from a relatively new PC that has spent more time being repaired than on my desk. The Mac in the past year has never frozen and never given me a problem of any kind!

Sorry, I forgot to mention one other thing. You can get a program called Parallels and this will have the iMac running on both the Mac OS language and allow it to run Windows at the same time with both open. I have it and it works GREAT! You don't lose anything!
