I so exhausted I don't even know where to start this friggin' saga.
I'll try to keep it short and sweet. Dad is in the hospital because he had what appeared to be either a stroke or a seizure last night and I had to call 911. According to the ER doctor it could be a pulmonary embolism, syncope, or blood clots in his lungs.
Dad hasn't been right since Christmas Day when he had 2 rather full wine glasses of sangria. Alcohol doesn't mix with the Stalevo which he takes for his Parkinson's Disease. We won't even discuss what all that sweetness did to his blood sugar count. He knows better! He has never been a drinker, why he chose to start now is beyond me.
Since Thursday he has been unable to walk more than six feet without his legs collapsing and him falling down. This means mom and I have to lift him and he is so weak, his muscles so atrophied he can't help us to help him up. Consequently mom and I both have backaches and she also has shoulder pain.
We just got back from the hospital at 6:30 AM ESTon Sunday. We followed the ambulance to the ER around 8:00 PM last night. They did an x-ray of his chest, ultrsound of his legs, and CT scan of his head. They seemed shocked he didn't have a pacemaker. Why I don't know. His heart has never been a problem.
Mom got hysterical when they asked about a living will and if he wanted to sign a DNR. I had to explain that was just standard questions for any patient being admitted to the hospital, but I don't think she bought it and I'm not sure I do either at this point. He looks awful. :frown1: Yet once at the hospital he seemed fine. He was more alert and jocular than he'd been in weeks. He was telling jokes and giving nurses recipes like some bizarre cross between Buddy Hackett and Mario Batali.
He is currently settled into his hospital; I assume for 48 hours of observation.

Please feel free to add him to your local prayer list.
Thank you,
