We use it too in Ireland, and it doesn't HAVE to be drink-related exhaustion (though it often means that too).
shattered = knackered = wrecked in this beautifully sunny land - today anyway!
in the states shattered could mean horribley distrurbed by a trauma event that has crushed you mentally or physically...also as in the glass was shattered into a million pieces..wow 10 thousand miles does make a difference......i like you brit's....very swish...yeah i have been to london...lol
Err we invented the language!!! U just did silly things to it like took the 'o' out of the word colour, and pronounce loads of our words in a funny way like toe-may-to....when its clearly 'tomato' and u put zeds in our words in where there should be s's instead oh and while I'm on the subject its a zebra....not a zee-bra!!! alrite!!!!
