I survived my colonoscopy

I am having a colonoscopy tomorrow morning and am trying to consume a gallon jug of Colyte. It doesn't taste as awful as I had feared; but I am not even half way through this thing yet. :yuck: Honestly, I couldn't drink a gallon of something I loved in the amount of time recommended! Why can't I just eat a dozen prunes or take some Ex-Lax?!?

Or better yet since sodium activates my Meniere's Disease and makes dizzy why not just hospitalize me for a few hours and hook me up to an IV of this stuff so they can control how much goes in and how fast.

That colyte stuff really cleaned me out when I had to do it but I hated drinking it too. Good luck tommorrow, njqt. Keep your chin up.

I had that done a couple of years back. Except the stuff i had was in a little bottle (very concentrated). I had 12 hours of pure misery but the doctor did compliment me on how clean i was

And if you haven't had it before, the procedure itself isn't as back as you'd imagine

Good luck. Hope your results come back with good news

I'm not afraid of the procedure. I'm afraid I will never finish this gallon of clear flavorless sludge.

I had this done last may .thank god i did as they discovered colon cancer in its early stages. Now that the Iliostomy bag has gone i am back to normal and no more cancer....Best of luck hope you have good news i will be thinking of you...john

Good luck to you NJ!

Joyseeker - You are very fortunate to get tested when you did. My aunt did not go to the doctor, and died from colon cancer when she was only in her 40s.

My dad only has a quarter inch of colon left, too, although in his case it wasn't cancer but polyps and internal bleeding.

Hearing that makes me want to go to the doctor and get tested myself, but I am uninsured and underemployed, and cannot afford to go to the doctor.

Good luck NJ. I will keep you in my thought and prayers. I hope everything goes smoothly.

Love, Mandee

Good luck with it. I guess they want the fluid in your intestines rather than in your veins. They want your ass squeaky clean.

Alas, I'm going to be all squeaky clean inside and I have no man in my life to give me a good butt fuck later today or tomorrow. :frown1:

You don't have to drink the whole gallon. A few cups of that stuff and you will be going like never before. You're going to have the cleanest butt in Georgia. And that's a good thing. I've had that test a few times and my doc told me if he goes in there and the butt isn't clean enough, he can't do it.
Good luck!

I'm a nurse. Drink the whole gallon to ensure your intestines are free of debris. You don't want the doctor to cancel the procedure; then you'd have to drink it all over again!

The procedure itself is a piece of cake. I just had mine done; 6 polyps removed-no cancer and I didn't feel a thing. But, I did crap my guts out with the damn prep!! Nurse's make really bad patients LOL.

Good luck.

I survived my colonoscopy! The procedure took less than 45 minutes. They did have to use a pediatric scope due to adhesions from a previous surgery.

The doctor said there was one internal hemorrhoid and that the cause of my previous pain and bleeding was diverticulosis. I was home by 11:00 AM and have been napping off and on since then.

I still have some discomfort & flatulence because of all the air they pump in during the procedure. Other than that I am okay.

Congrats on surviving your colonoscopy! I had one a few years ago, and far and away the worst part of it was the clean-out beforehand. I used Fleet's, which doesn't taste bad at all, but works surprising effectively...as in, "better not go more than 10 feet from a toilet!"

They didn't find any bad lesions, but I didn't poop for a week.

It's another couple years before I go for another routine one.
