Since there was a bit of media sensationalism of a few horrific events, I chose to not watch yank TV.
)~
I decided to read a mid December issue of Entertainment Weekly. When of all things Stephen King brought up the best TV of 2012, I found his picks to be a bit fruitful.
)
So, I watched some Swedish / Dane TV shows. The Bridge and The Killing. Both nothing to do with the issues society has been dealing with in the last week or so.
While watching The Bridge, I realized the main character named Saga (No not the game console), though never explained as such, is a savant... Which is a person who has a mild form of Autism.
Since Autism is a fairly new condition, it is a bit of trouble to understand with most peeps. Consider it being too smart for your own good, and makes you somewhat debilitated in various degrees.
I don't consider myself a savant in any way... Though I do share a few qualities that make me think how border lined I am, along with my mild form of dyslexia, and a bit of color blindness as well. So if anything I am not anything like most people. I am too different to fit in comfortably. That is why I don't try to make friends, for the most part.
)~
Without going into details... here be a list of odd quirky things I found I have commonalities with the savant in the show.
Understanding that someone likes you with out knowing any details about you is difficult to understand. Autistic peeps do not allow emotions to be shown freely, unless very troubled. They do not judge people by looks and tolerate differences between people much easier than non-autistic peeps. Also they do not need any praise, as everything they do is at their best of their abilities.
For example, while working I never think about personal time, unless it is during break. I notice many sneak time for what not in between.
As for rational thinking... autistic peeps are direct with words and their meanings, and are able to turn off emotions that get in the way of processes. In some ways it acts like an attention disorder, as I can't focus on a conversation when loud music or a TV show is going on simultaneously.
Most peeps think autistic people are less inclined to be active in participation. In some ways we seem to be loners, but enjoy watching more than partaking.
Not that we get off on watching sex... that be a who diff thing all together. Sex for the most part is a bodily function. Our mood does not effect sexual desire, as like a light switch can be turned on or off. Like just ask, why bother with all the non-sense of courtship.
I guess for the most part, autistic peeps don't see them selves in the same physical manner as others. Pretty much care less about how they look over all, or how peeps see them.
As for the character sorting all the details of what has been played out, I also have qualities like that. For the most part, when working on tasks that are set aside. I can remember where I left off without need of notes. Mostly I notice when I watch a movie once and after a few years, can pick out the name of the movie and explain the details that go on from just a wee gimps of a scene or hear a movie line. Even with songs as well... though the odd thing is I cannot recall lyrics or lines until I hear a part of what I am recalling. Which is a good thing, as I would not need to watch or listen again. The media peeps would not get much prophet from me. HA!!!!
)~
Enough about me or autistic qualities.
It is strange that a odd TV show could bring up insight that otherwise lays dormant from being thought as a bit quirky.
Now with all that said about me or autism... Enjoy the TV show The Bridge, it was tops on my list for 2012.
