Incompetency Rant

Part of me wants to push out the woman who is activities director at the senior center my parents attend. I know I could do a much better job than she does.

She should plan at least one trip a month and it should be accessible for people with mobility issues. My dad isn't the only one that needs a cane to get around. I've seen some that use a wheelchair or rollator.

Just because a persons legs don't work, doesn't mean their minds don't.

Try the Pitbull method of persuasion:

1.) Wag tail - Look happy!
if no response
2.) Growl
if disired result is not acheived
3.) Bite

OK now the serious response

1.) Nicely point out that your dad & other folks are being charged for trips they cannot take.

2.) Nicely point out that you believe that must be in violation of the ADA and Georgia State Law.

3.) Thank her in advance for helping all the seniors and taking care of this matter

Do that in writing

4.) If no response nicely point out that you are willing to help by writing letters pointing out #1 & #2 to her superior so he or she will be aware and can assist her in doing her job.

Do that in writing

5.) If no response - Time to bite and bite hard. Don't let go until they realize you mean business. Be ready willing and able to bite again.

I don't see NJ saying that the center charges seniors for trips they can't go on. I see NJ saying that trips should be organised and that relative states of mobility should be taken into account.

What do your folks do at the center, P? Is it just a place they go to hang out? Are you thinking perhaps their activity there needs to be more stimulating and structured? Do they pay a membership, and if so, what do they get for it?
