Ireland and home

I got busy, too busy to blog. I enjoyed the rest of my trip in Ireland. The west is so beautiful. Unfortunately, the money from the EU is changing the face of Ireland. Roads are being improved, but at the expense of charm and small town feel. The days of excitement of driving down the narrow lanes just missing the tour buses and big lorries are slowly disappearing. I know, but I just hate change.

The nights in the pubs, the music, even the adventure of riding the car ferry across the Shannon, it really is a great place to visit. Who knows, maybe moving to the west coast is in the future.

Interesting take on things. You think the infrastructure has improved that much austerliz? I would say with the economy the way it is that the road building etc is going to stop for a long time so the "charm" as you put it might be preserved for a little bit longer.

I'm in Killarney for a short summer break and loving it. The park is a wonderful place to hike and photograph.

I am comparing a span over the last 8 years. I drove the Ring of Kerry then, and it lived up to its reputation of scary. Signs advertising road improvements promoting the good works by the EU were found along the way and signs of construction were evident. And this is good, I hate to think of the accidents over the years, but still can't help not liking change. I haven't driven it again, but would like to know how it is now.

I have lived in a nice part of the world and watched the population growth change the look and feel of the place. I'll admit I have the selfish attitude of I live here now, so stop everyone else. I'm a 'no growther' and I admit.
But to be fair, I do feel some of the growth isn't progress, it's profit.

Glad you are liking it Vince - nice part of the world and you definately feel the pace of things slow down a bit - and the Guiness is great!

Same thing with the whole "for profit" building has exploded all over the island. Too many people getting rich on the back of property etc which has gotten alot of people into trouble. Nothing wrong with being a no growther - some things should not change.
