I've been away

to those of you who were wondering what happened....I came to recognize I have been suffering from a deep depression and was staying home knocking off work and losing pay.

Recognition that something was very wrong was when I would eat something on an empty stomach and it would not stay down.

I am using Zoloft, which does work, though it has made me priapic and unable to have an orgasm.

A difficult trade off. If anyone has any knowledge of this drug or first hand experience, let me know.

This is exactly what I went through this spring. My SSRI seemed to improve my mood, and I could even get wood, but I couldn't cum to save my life. I understand the trade off. I became so frustrated that I tried going off the drug for a while. After about 5 weeks I had an orgasm and I got my sex life back. I started working out again and that improved my mood enough that I could stay off the drugs. So far, so good.

There are new drugs coming out often--with fewer and fewer side-effects. This newer Paxil looks promising.

Anyway, welcome back and get back to work!

Hi Zos,

Glad to have you back and sorry to hear about your situation. Depression sucks. I spent most of my 20s with major depression and it's a shitty, shitty, shitty, disease. The only thing I can offer is to fight it with everything you've got even if you don't believe it will work.

I was never on Zoloft but I do know that many people need to try different types of anti-depressants to find one that works for them. What one person responds to, another may not. Anti-depressants will not cure depression. What they do is steady the boat enough to allow you to guide her to safe harbor.

Hope you're well and look forward to seeing you back!

I wondered where you were. I figured family and work were keeping you hopping.

Zoloft was the first drug they put me on 9 years ago and it didn't work. :frown1: The next drug they put me on was Prozac which was great for lifting my depression; but killed my sex drive and ability to climax.

You have to communicate with your doctor so that he knows what to try you on next. There are so many drugs out there and everybodys depression is different. So what works for me may not work for you.
