Jane Russel, RIP

So, this avatar is inspired by Jane Russell. Why Jane? Well, for one, she lived to be 90. And despite Hollywood's fascination with her body, and certainly not her soul, she survived. She didn''t off herself, unlike some blonds we might know.
She married, and married again, and then once again, and adopted children. According to Wikipedia, she became a rabid right winger. Unfortunately. But if you're a sex symbol in an industry designed to grind you up and spit you out, you probably do anything you need to do to survive. So here's to Jane.

Hey, what a bummer she was one of my favorites, this is
really news to me. Usually, I get wind of this from the news. Do you know when she died.

yes I will really miss her
I watched her in movies listened to her on radio with bob hope god am i old
rip lovely lady

When I heard of her death, it surprised me only in as much as I'd assumed it long since past. Her bustline was legendary, her performances decidedly less so (though she kicked ass in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes). Her political affiliations are largely irrelevant (much like those of Ginger Rodger's); they ultimately mean nothing to her enduring posthumous celebrity.

I was introduced to her primarily through her brassiere commercials ( as a "full figured" gal, already grown obese). Though her original introduction to American audiences may have been largely due to Howard Hughes' fascination with her tits, ultimately it was that fascination that propelled the aftermath of her career, not any noticeable "talent" she possessed.

There's no axe grinding here, just a recognition of a minor talent's true measure of celebrity.
